Ooooh lalala! It’s the Friday Link Hootenanny….ON FRIDAY! Yes, it’s a miracle! Today is Wolfie’s last day of school so we are officially hittin’ SUMMER VACATION mode. Whooo hoo! Life already seems busy, we have a birthday party and a wedding to go to this weekend, but we’ll hopefully squeeze in some nice loungin’ and relaxin’ too. Until then, here are some cool things that caught my eye this week!
1. THIS COVER WILL HAVE YOU IN STITCHES.
Embroidered Book Covers? Yes please. Artist Jillian Tamaki is so super clever and these book covers she did for Penguin are BRILLLIANT. See them all here.

2. UNEXPECTED GUESTS
I am loving the San Francisco home of mid century modern finds’ christine and carlos—and their kiddos. WOW. It’s all so clean and modern but homey. You can see more on sfgirlbybay.
3. NORTH POLE CRIB
A while back I posted about this magical place near Santa Cruz called Santa’s Village. It was this retro wonderland where it was Christmas 365 days a year! Sadly  it was torn down several years ago. So I was SUPER excited to see Rachel over at Smile and Wave posting photos of the Santa’s Village near her. Check out her post here.
4. ABANDONED VINTAGE CARS
I am loving these abndoned vintage cars on Palermo Viejo’s streets in Buenos Aires. Captured beautifully by Brazilian art director, Eduardo Fialho. We actually had a VW station wagon like the one below except it was blue….we even drove it from Michigan to California for our summer vacation!
5. NEON BOWLS ME OVER
Yeah. I’m still not done with the neon. And I think it looks smashing paired with this organic wood! See ’em here on Poppytalk.
6. WHY YOU GOTTA DIS THE COMIC?
If you don’t already know this….most people think using Comic Sans “font” is akin to holding up a flashing sign that says “I know nothing about design!” Well, Comic Sans has had enough of your bad mouthing and has written a rebuttal. This piece in McSweeney’s is the funniest thing EVER. I read it when it first came out a while back, but just saw it over at Gala Darling again this week and was reminded how HIGHlarious it is! Read it here.
7. TATTOO YOU.
Groovy brain child of Swiss Miss Tina Roth Eisenberg, Tatty is a collection of designy temporary tattoos created by some of the world’s hippest designers. For the month of  June, Tattly is offering 6-month tattoo subscriptions. And that’s just WAY cooler than the fruit of the month club.

8. AFFORDABLE HERMES. YAY.
Last year, infamous designer brand Hermes released a printable version of the iconic Kelly bag. So cool! Well now they’ve done it again with these cool clutches. To download yours, simply visit this page, let it load, and then click on the “I want it, I’ll have it” thumbnail. You can choose from six different patterns. Fun! I wish I could track down the Kelly…it’s so cute too.
9. DADDY, OH!
{Orson Welles, Rita Hayworth and their sweet bebe!}
{Sammy Davis Jr. and his cute little man}
{Humphrey Bogart and his plaid wearin’ tot!}
I love these charming photos of famous dads and their offspring. See the whole collection over at the LIFE archives.
BONUS VIDEO
Ahhh the Weber grill. What dad doesn’t love to BBQ? In honor of Father’s Day this weekend, I found a super rad vintage commercial featuring Paul Picerni…Star of TV and Screen. (OK, fine, I have no idea who he really is…..) But watch this. It’s awesome. The ending is the best part. OK…I’m off to watch more Dexter. I’m on Season 4 (Trinity) and utterly obsessed!!! HAPPY FRIDAY!
These are all so great! I love the tattoo website, I am going to get some for Judah 🙂
Paul Picerni!! Quite known actor! “The Untouchables”
The Weber, was THE way to grill in the 60’s. Ria and Max had one, of course, orange colored!
Those Penguin books are only $4.95 on clearance at Urban Outfitters right now! I got them at the Nashville store last weekend!
