Weekly Kiddo :: Meet Stella!

There must be something about the name Stella–for they all seem to have a whole bucket of sass matched with cuddly sweetness! This charmer of a Stella hails from Salt Lake City and is the mighty age of four!  And boy, does she have some mad style!

According to her Mama, Victoria, Stella loves singing, dancing, crafting, playing instruments, playing with her sister, Nina, her best friend Miles and other friends, getting a pedicure, squealing and riding horses. She loves to play with her cars, “peoples” (vintage Fisher Price Little People–which completely melts my heart), in her kitchen, on her daddy’s keyboards, on her bike and at the playground. She keeps us busy with her curiosity and creativity. She’s full of sass and spirit, as you can totally tell by these pictures!

What a doll, right?

Her mother told me how Stella loves shoes, but when I looked at the photos, I saw more of a sunglasses love with this girlie!

Most of Stella’s clothing comes from Tea Collection (one of my personal faves), Old Navy, H&M, Target, and Nordstrom with an occasional handmade piece by Grandma Brown or her mama’s friend lovely friend Nicole. Like a most prudent mama, Victoria likes to splurge on one outfit per season, the rest tends to be play clothes from Old Navy, H&M and Target. Clever thinking!

We loved having you here, Stella! And we’ll cover your cutie of a sister soon, too!

Do *you* have a stylish kiddo you’d like to show off? Send ‘em our way! You can find submission details here. We love all kinds of kiddos…. vintage and thrift loving liddles, modern grooviness tots and simply sweet, down-to-earth kiddos.

Meet Stella Pearlie

What is it about the name Stella?  Every gal we see named Stella is busting with cuteness and mad style!  And just wait to you see what this little cutie patootie is up to style wise. Like this:

Miss Stella Pearlie is a super fun girl who loves being girlie just as much as hanging tough with her big brother, Ivan, according to her mama Jenny.

She loves sharks, purses, dolls, clip on earrings, listening to James Brown, playing dress up, picking flowers and playing tag.

Hee hee! I love this photo. It almost looks like she is being stalked by the papparazzi and opening the door of her Mercedes to escape!

She has a blanket named GooGoo and a fine black kitty named Cordelia Kittybody. She is a little bundle of energy tied up with sass and her family loves her so much.

Since Stella Pearlie’s mama, Jenny who runs the Etsy Shop, The Fancy Tail, Stella’s closet if full of great thrifted clothes!

Stella, you are such a fun little girl! It has been lovely having you on the blog. I’m telling you, there is clearly something magical about the name Stella!

PS: I will feature another Stella next week even! YAY!

PPS:  Do *you* have a stylish kiddo you’d like to show off? Send ‘em our way! You can find submission details here. We love all kinds of kiddos…. vintage and thrift loving liddles, modern grooviness tots and simply sweet, down-to-earth kiddos.

Meet Avery!

Oh, Avery, your room is almost as adorable as you. And that is saying a lot, since that room is flipping amazing! I will probably write a full post on that vintage-inspired bed mama Corey created, but Avery, YOU makes my heart smile!

Florida native, Avery is two and a half and 95 percent of her wardrobe has been lovingly plucked from thrift shops by her mama. But I think there is some serious sparkle that is added to each outfit courtesy of Miss Avery.

She is the youngest of three kids, with two older brothers—just like me!  She’s a typical girl, a typical two-year-old, and a typical third child- melodramatic, stubborn, spoiled, drama-queen, and wants things HER WAY! (but all in the best way, of course, her mama notes with a smile, I’m sure.) Perhaps it was Avery’s idea to put this color combo together, which totally works, if you ask me…

And she likes a whole slew of things like: her thumb and her Gee-Gee (that’s her blankie), Mickey Mouse, Pink Power Ranger.  And she loves kitties and bicycles too! Just like in this piccie!

She loves a good song–especially if you spell the words out. Her two favorite songs are Y.M.C.A.  (we have a membership at the Y, and she loves singing it when we go!), Saturday Night (by the Bay City Rollers).

Avery is a puzzle maniac and of course, rocks her big girl bed.  She likes to eat yogurt (pronounced Hogurt) and doing things “myself”.

And this little Miss has got style for daaaayyysss.

BTW, Avery has a thing for the color pink and My Little Pony.  Because she’s awesome.

Why she even likes mini golf!  Ever since Avery and her family played in Myrtle Beach a couple months ago, she asks, “are we going to miniature golf?” at least 20 times a day!

Things Avery isn’t a fan of: going in the potty, taking a nap (she and the Peach could chat about that for hours), not being able to do what big brothers do, and other babies or toddlers near HER stuff.

Oh Avery, you sound like a hoot!  And I know you and the Peach would get along like a house on fire.

And P.S.  here is a bit more about her big girl room! Hee hee!

Calling all kiddos!

The Weekly Kiddo was one of our very first features when we started Modern Kiddo and was intended to show off the cool style and personality of kiddo’s around the world. What can I say? We love our Weekly Kiddos! It is one of our favorite posts to write. And we’ve had some super cuties in the past, like  Henry, Lola, Sasha and Hooper.

We are always looking for new kiddos to feature and I have a feeling YOUR kiddo would be perfect! If you think so too, then we’d love for you to send us some snaps and a bit about your wee one. They will then be featured as part of our Weekly Kiddo column.  The kids love it (and so do the grandparents!). Keep in mind this is all in good fun, so we’re not looking for professional shots or anything! That being said, there are some guidelines to submitting. Here’s what we need:

1) Photos of your son or daughter, age 18 months-10 years, looking their most adorable and stylish.

2) You may submit 6-12 color photos. Please show your child from head-to-toe or waist up in most of the shots (avoid headshots). Choose photos that let their personality really shine through!

3) A short blurb about them. First name only, their age, your city or state, and what they love!  Favorite foods, activities, books, colors, stuffed animal, games, animals etc.

Here are some photo tips:

1) No flash please! Take photos outside or in natural lighting whenever possible. Flash tends to really wash things out.

2) Please make sure the photos are big enough. We are happy to make images smaller or crop them, but if your shot is too small it will get grainy when we enlarge it. To get a little techy on ya, our photos are cropped to 600 pixels wide.

3) Don’t worry if you think your photos aren’t snazzy enough, we’ll polish ‘em up and make ‘em purty!

That’s it! We can’t wait to see your cuties. Please email us at: Dottie[at]modernkiddo .com. And if you already submitted your wee one and they haven’t been featured, please resend. Our In Box gets a bit overwhelming at times and things have been known to be lost in the shuffle—especially when there are attachments involved.

I’m crossing my fingers you’ll do it, because I want to see your little cutie! You can see all our past Weekly Kiddos right here!

Meet G

Friends, I have a super special treat for you with this weekly kiddo.  He is the whip smart, handsome son of my wonderful friend, Amy Gershoni–part of the uber creative team, Gershoni. And this boy’s name is G.  Just the letter G.  Future teenage girls of the 2026 high school class, start swooning now.

G is a 4 years old, San Francisco native and urban explorer.

G is one busy little guy whose list of roles include Golden Gate Park roll polly collector, sidewalk chalk artist, sit-in drummer with “his” Farmers Market band.

G has an adventurous palette downing tobiko and strong cheese, but his current fav is pancakes with blueberries, bananas and walnuts. (That DOES sound yummy…)

Mr. G is a great mimic, wielding his pre-school French with perfect elocution.  He is an abstract painter, a tiny car racer (complete with sound effects), a power book reader/ listener, a great story teller with his own cast of characters, and a world class cuddler.

He can rock a Tree Pose unaided and is about to master the somersault.  He has recently learned how to shake hands.

But more than anything else, he is a charming, sweet boy who is gonna rock the world. Just you wait and see, friends!
