Meet Kara!

We have a certain little cutie here today. Emphasis on little!  Meet Miss Kara–a perfect little lady with an emphasis on the little.  She’s always been in the 5 percent of her height and weight but that doesn’t stop her from being super full of sass and cuteness.  Although it can be tough to find clothing for one so little, her mama, Laura is very resourceful!

You can just tell by these piccies that she’s a spirited little one.  Kara has two favorite stuffed animals — “Teddy” and “Baby.” She is very friendly and easy going, and engages most everyone she meets.

Her winter style consists of a lot of cute hats, vintage bows, denim skirts and dresses, and dark-wash jeggings and tunic shirts. She LOVES her boots and bows and hats. If she’s not wearing a bow or hat in the morning, she’ll say to me, “Ha?” Or “Bow?” And she is always very happy to show off her boots (as she has more pairs of boots/shoes than I do!).

You might be tiny, Kara, but your heart and personality are big big BIG!

And thank you Laura for sharing you lovely little girlie with us!

Do YOU have a stylish kiddo you’d like to feature on Modern Kiddo? Then send ‘em our way! You can read how to submit a kiddo right here. We’re always looking for new cuties to feature. Meet Hooper!

Hi hi friends! Have I got a little cutie for you today! Meet Hooper and he’s about as darling as can be! His sweet mama, Ashley, the mastermind behind a lovely lovely blog filled with stunning pictures called, The Stork and the Beanstalk,  has helped Hooper develop a great style that includes a great mix of vintage and new clothes that can’t help but make you smile.

This wee laddie is just as charming as you might expect. Hooper loves carrying a broom (which is almost as good as using a broom in my mind!)  He finds closed drawers and cabinets mysterious, and prefers sorting the spices in the spice drawer to watching cartoons. Just like any good mama’s boy, he seeks comfort in her arms but only momentarily…   And is forever entertained by a rousing game of peek-a-boo.  Hooper’s favorite foods include yogurt, anything with sour cream on it, and kibbles in bits straight from the dog bowl. Hee hee!

Speaking of the dog bowl, Hooper’s favorite animal is his dog, Sarah. These two are joined for life partners in crime, according to his Mama.

Oh, Hooper,  you can come by Modern Kiddo any time you’d like!

Meet Stella, our Weekly Kiddo!

Oh, there is so much to love about Stella! Her marvelous curly locks, her laugh that demands to be joined with equal joy. And her clear charm and wonderful style which is so perfectly San Francisco and well, perfect for such a free spirit as Stella.

And Stella’s fashion is just as delicious and multi-layered as her fair city. For example Stella already knows the power of a good red dress and topped it with the most divine green scarf belt. How perfect and unique. Just like Stella, who refuses to be in the same room as Santa, but can sing beautifully in front of a crowded auditorium.

Like most kids born and bred in SF, our girl Stella knows a thing or two about practical comfy shoes and the importance of layers.  And who wouldn’t want shoes as awesome as these sweet red boots?

OK–I want to wear this outfit. Would you check it out? The playful birdie skirt with just enough match in the lovely hot pink flats. Well done, lady!

What is there not to love about this girl. This super super girl!

Oh, you are super, Stella!

I asked her mommy, Tiffanie to give more deets about this darling girl of hers.  Here are a few:

  • Stella is a big reader. Avid reader. LOVES to read.
  • She knows San Francisco like the back of her hand. Loves to go out and explore the city with her Mom.
  • Stella loves musical theater and saw Wicked twice when it was running SF! Lucky girl! She is active in a drama class that she likes very much right now.  Expect to read her name in a Playbill in the future, folks!
  •  If not on the stage, perhaps the future will find her in the kitchen as she loves to play fake cooking shows in her kitchen. Hmmm… Maybe a show on Food Network is in her future as well…
  • Stella has a massive collection of miniature Japanese toys, which she and her family like to build block houses and restaurants and shops for. She has a dollhouse her handy Mommy built for her which she likes to play with.
  • Also, she loves ANYTHING pretend. “Pretend we own a restaurant” or “pretend we’re a greeting card factory” are two of her absolute favorites (especially card factory).  OK, maybe back to being in a Playbill…
  • She is spearheading an effort to get recycling bins on her play yard at her elementary school.  That makes me smile ear to ear!
  • On Saturdays, her favorite thing is to stay in her jammies as long as she can and eat sweets and read. She loves that Saturday morning is for the family to eat some giant sticky buns and sit around and pretend like she is not smack dab in the middle of San Francisco.
  • This girl LOVES hotels. She has picked staying at a hotel over birthday parties for the past few years.  Stella is clearly my kind of girl, as there is nothing more wonderful in my book than staying in a nice hotel.

But one of Stella’s absotively posolutely  favorite things ever is just time out with just her mommy.  She and her Mom call them ladies dates, and they only get them once a month or so, due to her little brother being around (he’s Oliver and he’s 2 1/2). She and her Mom will see some theater and go out for tea, or pedicures and lunch, or ice skating and window shopping.  That does sound like heaven!

Stella, San Francisco is tickled pink to call you one of its own!

To find out more about Stella’s adventures in SF and beyond, I highly recommend stopping by Tiffanie’s highly addicted blog, Corner Blog.

Meet (a new!) Wolfgang

There must be something about the name Wolfgang that makes a boy so sweet and cute. We have another Weekly Kiddo for you, and this Wolfgang is just as darling as our infamous Modern Kiddo Wolfgang! Get ready to feast your eyes on some serious adorableness.

Mama Deborah is a totally cool cat.  She has a fun little blog called Amongst the Knick Knacks where she shares her great thrifting finds and cool outfits—many of which land in her Etsy shop) She has mad style which extends to her sweet 14 month old boy.

And were talking serious good boy style. Like this!

Deb told us a bit more about her little guy:

He adores playing kitchen, helping mommy [what a good boy!], and tractors. Wolfgang loves to be complimented on his clothing and going for train rides. [The Peach would approve!] His favorite food is scrambled eggs with any sort of green veggie mixed in,but will pretty much eat anything in front of him. [Lucky Deb!]

And as if that wasn’t enough, he went as the most adorable little gnome for Halloween!

Thanks so much, Deb for sharing your little Wolfgang with us!  What a cutie! Come back any time!

PS:  Do *you* have a stylish kiddo you’d like to show off? Send ‘em our way! You can find submission details here. We love all kinds of kiddos….vintage and thrift loving liddles, modern grooviness tots and simply sweet, down-to-earth kiddos.

Meet Lola!

Friends, have I got a little cutie to share with you today. Meet Lola Birdie, one of the sassiest lil’ ladies we’ve had here and hoo boy is she a little cutie to boot.

I saw piccies of this one on Instagram and had to ask her mama to let us feature her here as a Weekly Kiddo! Thanks, Anita for sharing Miss L.B. with us.

I knew Lola was a character when her Mama told us that Miss Lola started talking at NINE MONTHS–before she could walk or even crawl. Clearly this is one clever little kiddo who loves chatting.

When she’s not buying low and selling high, Lola loves Yo Gabba Gabba, Peppa Pig, Caillou, and Shrek movies more than anything. But she’s also very much in touch with her feminine side, as she loves to dress up like a pretty princess and her favorite color is pink!

Lola Birdie absolutely ADORES music, just like her musician father. Along with being his biggest fan, some of her other favorite songs are Justin Bieber’s “Baby”  and The Four Seasons “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and anything song from Yo Gabba Gabba.
Her favorite instrument is the drums and runner ups are tambourine and guitar. She also likes to play the piano and sing.
Her favorite toys are daddy’s iPad, all of her dress up clothes from her dress up trunk, her play kitchen along with play foods and princess makeup vanity. She loves to pretend. For nap time she loves to grab any of her favorite books including Paul Frank’s High Five book, Olivia, Monster Munch, Sam the Owl and her Olivia doll she got for her birthday.
And Lola is an A class cryer. Anita, I’m amazed you didn’t hand over the cookie/iPad/keys to the car when faced with such a cutie crying!
Her favorite holiday (so far) is Halloween. She loved going trick or treating. But I have a feeling she’s going to be REALLY into Christmas.  As you can see from her styling Santa costume.
Lola Birdie is a vegetarian who loves, I mean LOVES fake chicken nuggets, pizza and burritos as well as blueberries, tomatoes, oranges and pinapple. She is also obsessed with pirate’s booty and popsicles and she can never pass up a “good peanut butter and honey sammich!” according to her mama!
Thanks for stopping by, Lola and bringing your cuteness to Modern Kiddo!
