Change of Seasons. Change of Wardrobe.

This weekend, I plan to officially move the Peach’s winter outfits out her dresser and closet and into storage. I’m sure everyone Back East is already packing up their winter clothes to make room for the pretty pastels and short pants of summer. But before we pack up all of our winter wear, I’d love to hear what clothes got you through the winter with your little one.

For me, it was a gift from my friend Dana of five little fleece jumpers in fun solid colors that the Peach wore pretty much every day.

Best thing about  these little jumpers—they  cost 99 cents each from the local 99 cent store.

I also bought two fleece jumpers from the Gap on sale for $5.00 each. Paired with leggings and a long sleeved onesie, well, that was the Peach this winter.

So much for super fancy, but I think the Peach rocks them anyway! Now I’m ready for her to show off her Target Liberty of London haul in a big way this summer.

What got you through your winter? What was your kiddo clothing savior? An extra jolly pair of boots?  The  snuggliest legwarmers you hand knit yourself? That great pink gear furry snowsuit from L.L. Bean?

And what are you excited about dressing your little ones in now that it is warmer weather? We’d love to share your clothing cleverness with everyone!

MODERN KIDDO TIP: Cuteness can be found anywhere, you just have to keep your eyes peeled! Who would have imagined the 99 cent store would yield such awesomeness?

  1. Awww she’s such a cutie. And 99 cents for jumpers??? Where the heck is this 99 cent store?? Mine only has cheap-ass (as in crappy plastic) toys, candles and expired candy.

  2. Peach! You are too cute!
Stella had a pair of red Uggs. While they are not my favorite of her footwear- she loved them and just being able to throw them on (sans socks) to run to the market, etc. priceless. Going to get another pair next year too.

  3. 99 cents is almost unheard of. good grief! ya’ll did alright!

so let’s see. we layered up in our thrifted wool sweaters. i personally (shudder to think about) wore one particular thrifted wool fisherman’s sweater like, NonStop. cause it was warm and there was an obscene amount of snow on the ground, for like, ever.

kiddos kind of layered up the same. we weren’t afraid to wear our scarves in the house. tights. fleecy jackets. you name it.

  4. the one thing we couldn’t live without this winter…leggings. pip worn them with everything, under everything, layered under jeans, with dresses & skirts and sometimes 2 pairs at once!! personally i can’t wait to get rid of them.

  5. I love the leggings too (for me) alas, unless I wanted Wolfie to look like Peter Pan, it was no leggings for him! We did, however, wear a very snuggly coat from Old Navy and I TOTALLY cheated and took this sassy zipper pull off of an older (and more spendy!) Oilily coat he wore ages ago and stuck it on the cheap Old Navy one….everyone thought his coat was from someplace fancy! haha.

And Dottie…”snuggly legwarmers that I HANDKNIT”? Oh ho ho my friend. I think you have me confused with someone else. I put the “L” in LAAAAZY. I’m buyin’ those legwarmers (or paying someone crafty cool like YOU to knit ’em for meeee! haha)

  6. That great 99 cent store is located across from the West Oakland BART station! And thanks for the compliments on the Peach. Legwarmers are genius–totally the new baby accessory of the decade, I think! Good call, Rocket Girl!

And that idea of the red uggs is just genius, Marla!

Thanks for sharing, you guys! I love hearing for you!

  7. Thank you to the entry. I just about passed your blog up in Yahoo but now I am glad I checked it out and received to go via it. I’m certainly a little much better informed now. I realize really a couple of folks which will need to check it out. They’ll for sure delight in the heck out of what I just read as well.
