  1. Dear Dottie, (that so sounds like an advice column intro) If you’re into booking a massage, send me a note. My sister works for a ludicrously priced spa, but comes to town once a month to offer discounted massages to friends. This note feels slightly insane, but you only have a month to get this done )emergency massage!) so I thought I’d mention it.

    Yay for you!

  4. Alix,

I’m responding to your comment from my blog Treasures for Tots.

Thank you for your wonderful compliments about my daughter Serenity! I found the wonderful jacket and barrettes from Heather. I think I’m addicted to her store!! She finds the most amazing clothes and everything is always in excellent condition!

I would LOVE y’all to feature Serenity! That’s so cool that you asked me. I like your blog – I’ve been bookmarking things like crazy!!

What would you need me to do?

  6. Just came across your blog and think it is delish! I sell vintage items from the 1940s and 1950s on Etsy. Love that site! I think your site is super cute and was a nice and relaxing way to enjoy my cup of coffee.

    Have a swell day!

  7. Love your site!

I’ve been searching all over the Internet to find some of these toys shown on your website. How can you find them?

I’m especially looking for the vintage Fisher Price plastic riding horse that whinnies when you raise up on its reins, and the old FP See & Say–the one that says “This is a cow. The cow says Moo.” All the newer versions play Old McDonald. Any clues where to purchase these toys?

    1. Hi Kris! It’s actually a napkin, believe it or not, from Target! I bought them over the summer. Not sure if they are still available though. If I stumble across them again I’ll let you know!

      1. re: Vintage Kiddo, OK, who came up with this one? The sliding wall of doom. [“Frank, got an excellent idea for down at the playground. We take a 10-foot tall piece of metal, stick it on an angle and let that sucker bake in the hot afternoon sun. The kid’s will love it!”] I guess it was still pretty fun—when it wasn’t giving you burns on your hands or blinding the hell outta you.

I do not know for sure, but I believe that the name of that certain playground item was called Miracle Earn-A-Slide. Both look identical to the same one that was at the elementary school that I attended in the mid-late 70s. I hope that this helps some. Please let me know if it does. The following is a link to the picture that I found…

  8. I want to download the responsibility chart and print it full size for my daisy girl scouts today. When I print, it is only come out very small as it looks on the screen what am I doing wroing?

  9. Dear Alix,
Where did you find the cute spectator shoes featured in your tutorial for comfy shoes? I love them, would you share with me where I might find those awesome shoes. Thanks.

  10. I saw a picture on another website that gave credit to this site. I would like to know more about it. My brother, who is serving in Iraq, stumbled onto it & sent it to me. We both felt strongly that we had seen it before & that maybe we were actually two of the kids in it. It appears to be from the 70’s. There are 6 children sitting on a couch wearing Halloween costumes. There is a princess, dog, Casper, an ape from Planet of the Apes, a clown, and devil. Do you know anything about where it came from?

  11. Any ideal where I could purchase a Debbie’ Dream House? I have most of mine from childhood , but cousins took a toll on some of it. I would like to find one for my 2 granddaughters to play with

  12. I absolutely love your site!!
My own particular vintage obsession is vintage kids books….4,000 of them and counting in our home library according to Librarything. With all those titles to choose from, I’ve started a vintage kids book blog at http://www.onceuponabookshelf.com.
Includes a daily featured title (mostly lesser knowns but a few tried and true favs as well), oodles of droolworthy retro illustrations, and free book giveaways too:) Do stop by, I’d love to have you visit!

  13. Hi there I really love the mushroom with 2 little mice by new Zealand designer cuckoo nest, and the little red riding hood felt house . Where can I buy them from, lark don’t stock them anymore and peanut and pip don’t stock it either.
    Looking forward to your reply

    1. Hi Cheryl! I’m not sure which post you are referring to (we’re not a shop or stockist, so we don’t sell any of these item!). we have hundreds of posts, so it’s impossible for me to tell which one had the items you are looking for. If you can comment on that post, i can try and help you track it down!

  14. Good afternoon,

I was browsing the internet and I came across your wonderful willy wonka invitations. I tried to download and print them on the link you provided, but it would not allow me? Please could you advise me if it would be due to me based in the United Kingdom.
My 8 year daughter has falling in love with them and she would love to hand them out for her 9th birthday party.

    Thank you

  15. What a beautiful site you are!! I can’t wait to try the Thai salad and the Fennel Orange Cocktail.

I thought you might want to know and let others know that the classic film Born In The USA (http://patchworksfilms.net/films/born_usa.html) has just been released for home viewing. The film shows three different birth settings with three different practitioners. Christiane Northrup says of the film, “Every man, woman and child in this country should see this film”

There’s also 10% affiliate revenue available to sites that embed the clip of the film. (http://patchworksfilms.net/bitusa_stream.html)

Thanks for listening and let me know if I can answer any questions.

    Kind regards,

  16. HI…
    🙂
I picked up a paper dress in D.C. while on a trip there recently… it’s in great condition. It’s a “poster dress” with a poem on the open palm by allen ginsberg. I’m curious if you’d be interested in buying it from me. I don’t want to just sell it, I want it to go to someone who really gets it, and loves it and makes it a happy home.
    Cheers!
    Nicholas
