We had to put our dog to sleep a few weeks ago quite unexpectedly, and before long we found ourselves scooping the rescue websites. We found a dog and it has been such a similar situation in that we are so freaked and worried some one else could get him first. Luckily the place we are adopting through has all kinds of crazy rules (like no kids under 8, a person must be home every 3 hours, and back yard has to be fenced) since I work from home, our youngest is 8, and we have a big fenced backyard we felt optimistic. But I still kept checking the adoption page and worrying. We finally got the call that our home inspection is this Sunday—and if that goes well we arrange to drive 3 hours to pick up our dog. 🙂 Cant wait to read more about Samson he is beautiful!

Oh yes…. its so hard to lose a pet. I’m so sorry you lost your sweet doggy. It def took us some time to get another dog (6 years!). We travel a lot to visit the grandparents and having a dog will add a new layer of complexity to the trips. I think its smart to wait til your youngest is a little older. Wolfie is big enough now that he can be a helper….and to be honest, when he was a little guy, I wanted Wolfie to be the star of the family. A new dog takes up so much time and energy and you have to kind of share the spotlight a bit! haha
