i love the darth vader cake. it’s weird because i just came over from facebook where my sister posted some of our early years party photos with the big bird version of that cake (i also have a photo from my 18th bday where i had her recreate it). i recall them being quite a paing in the ass, having to pipe the frosting on one star at a time.

awww this post makes me so nostalgic – not for star wars, but for being a kid who wasn’t jaded about bed linen, or mc donald’s parties or even popular culture in general. i wish i could be 8 and be swept away in the excitement with all my friends over something just FUN.

in other news, i’ve never seen star wars. so, i’ll be awaiting that “we can’t be friends anymore” email 😉

He slept with me every night from the time I was 5 until I was about… oh, 26? It was only because he was sore worn out that I retired him from my bed. As a child he went every where with me and as an adult he even travelled with me. Now he is on Moira’s bed – even though I keep taking him away she keeps finding him and telling me that he “wants” to sleep with her. He probably does. She likes the fact that he was my “special someone” when I was little – because that is what we call her beloved elephant that goes every where with her.

The only thing that is different about my E.T. is that he lost an arm early on (my crazy Dalmatian ate it) and has been called Ampu-E.T. ever since.

Anyway, I just thought I would share that story with you.
