Bonus Vintage Bookshelf + Alain Grée Goes Rock-n-Roll!

It’s me again with a few more goodies to share on this sunny San Francisco Friday. Although truth be told, the sun is rappidly dwindling. SO, you may remember my fabulous post on Alain Grée. He’s an amazing French illustrator who does the most charming little drawings. Like this:

Before I get to the main point of this post I wanted to remind you of his genius, so I bring you a special BONUS edition of:

[I feel like I need a cute theme song, no??] Alain Gree was born in 1936 in France and during the 60’s and 70’s he produced a zillion amazing children’s books. His style is so charming I really can’t get enough of it. I’ve been lucky to find his books in both French and English at thrift stores, but you can also buy them online. Here is a favorite from my collection:

The little record player is so terrific….and I love the fashions, especialy the “zoo” shirt on that little girl below.

I’m not sure what Oprah would have to say about this multi-tasking fellow….smoking a pipe and holding an umbrella whilst bicycling is like the 1963 version of driving and texting!! LOOK OUT! TURTLES!

I love the punchy colors and the sweet little mod kids featured in his drawings (I mean check out that turtle neck and those sweet little boots! How hip is that??).

So the reason for this post was actually to share this. Alain recently began to license his work and a company in Japan (of course) is selling the most adorable mugs and bento boxes with his illustrations.
Because really, couldn’t we all use an adorable new bento?

You can get one for yourself HERE

But today’s Modern Kiddo in’t just a lunch time cutie, they’re also a little bit rock-n-roll, which is why I was blown away by these adorable Alain Gree temporary tattoos!!!! Zut Alors! I love ’em all….

You can buy them right here.

And finally, my Australian bestie Pilgrim just sent me this amazing nugget, that she found via the lovely Lark:

Two final things. THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who voted for us for the Homie Awards for Best Kids Blog! While we didn’t win, we made a very respectable showing in the Top 5 and were were frankly just SO honored to be amongst such amazing blogs! Your support means the world to us.

Also, don’t forget about our amazing House 8810 Giveaway!

(is there an echo in here?)  You can win not one, not two, BUT THREE rad goodies: aterrific tongue-in-cheek “yellow pages” booster seat, an amazing Oh Deer dinner set and lastly this terrific Retro Memory Game.

That’s it for today. Have a super duper weekend everyone!
