Because Alix and I had such a blast at the ole ALT Summit this year (and last year) we were gunning to go to Mom 2.0 Summit this year. Why, you ask? Because it’s just one of ze best mom-focused, blogger conferences out there. Mom 2.0 is designed for smart entrepreneural woman—who just happend to be moms and kick ass. It is an amazing opportunity to talk shop with social media influencers, industry leaders and leading brands as they share best practices.
And the speaker list? ZOMG amazing. Did we mention it is in New Orleans too? Mmmhmm. April 14-16. And they are quite determined to cram as much awesomeness into those days as possible.  There are break-out sessions to discuss ways to create smarter web-based marketing, and discover social media tools that engage your audience and build relationships. Also mad networking opportunities as you connect with other bloggers. In other words it is a blogger’s dream come true.
We bought tickets to the conference and made a reservation at the Four Seasons there and started researching the thrift shops and beignet spots.
Sadly the busy fairy dropped a whole bucket of of busy on us and we can’t go. Â Sniffle snuffle. But that doesn’t mean you can’t!

Friends, I know I always get excited about our giveaways, it’s true. But I can’t lie–I’m particularly excited about this one because it is from one of my all time favorite brands–Winter Water Factory! Winter Water Factory is giving away this “jump rope” dress in June leaf print. So button cute!  And navy is such a terrific color that works in all seasons.  Also, I like the short sleeves so you can layer it with a long sleeve t-shirt underneath.
I fell head over heels for this sweet company’s amazing textile prints and the fact that they are printed on the softest organic cotton out there. And the clothing designs are simple in style to show off the patterns.
Of course I have a soft spot for the creative duo, Margaret McCartney and Stefanie Lynen, who are based in Brooklyn.  These gals find inspiration for their stunning designs from all over the place like children’s books to vintage wallpaper to envelope liners. Before these lovely ladies started Winter Water Factory, they worked together for years creating holiday décor for a big designer before striking out on their own. And you can tell this is a creative match made in heaven when you look at their wonderful work.

MK: Friend, what inspired you to open this grand online store?
HOUSE 8810: Having THE house on the block is what inspired House 8810. We’ve always wanted to have a house that made people feel welcome, you know, the house with all the great parties and the one that was decked out for all holidays. We wanted to create a place where people can shop and find many unique items that make their house the home they’ve always wanted.
MK: What is your favorite item in the shop?
HOUSE 8810: Since there are three of us behind House 8810 we couldn’t come up with just one favorite item, so we each picked one. We came up with the My Life Story Lifetime Diary, the Flea Market throw and the Paper Dollies.
MK: How do you pick out the amazing items in your shop?
House 8810: When buying items for the shop, we buy things that we would want in our own homes or things we would love to get as a gift. The items we tend to lean towards have a certain retro flair to them. We also like to pick out things that are hard to find and hopefully no one else has.
MK: Well you succeeded at that. Exhibit A: that brilliant grill. I’m obsessed with it. Pure genius! Thank you for sharing, lady.
