A bit of vintage kiddo goodness to start your day!

Oh, what a lovely weekend we had in the Bay Area!  No coats were worn this weekend. Instead it was all about bike rides and tons of snuggling and giggling with the Peach. January was an INSANE month, so it was super nice to just be at home. And of course some time had to be spent checking Esty from some sweet vintage vittles!

Here you go!

Behold the deal of century: a lot of 31 pieces of vintage kiddo clothing for a mere $20! Etsy seller OhSydney is clearing her closets. Aw yeah! Some of the items may need a little TLC, but others are fine and dandy!

How much is that doggy on the back of the sweater? Well, pretty darn cheap as this cute vintage sweater is a mere $10. Perfect for cool weather climes. Like Pittsburgh… From Etsy seller, Bondplace Vintage. BTW, this seller has quite a few nice sweaters at great prices. Just saying…

In a world of pretty pink dresses sometimes, you just gotta root for the primary color dress. Like this kapow of a dress from the seventies. From Gotta Go Vintage.

On the list of things I never get tired of: sweet vintage trains on kiddo clothing. Like on this little sweater shirt.  Sigh.  I am human, afterall… From Etsy seller, Audrey Blissful.

Could we talk about this robe for a second?  The amazingness of pink giraffes whose necks form long stripes? It is killing me. KILLING ME!  I just went on a shopping crusade to find a nice robe for the Peach and came up with NADA. If only this would fit my growing girlie. Sob! My loss. YOUR gain! I don’t know where you find these beauties, Lishyloo!

OK, COACH! Oh, this little jacket does things to me!  From Etsy seller, Oliver’s Forest!

This little faux deep V-neck shirt is so cute and of course made cuter by this sweet curly-haired moppet wearing it!  Love! And it’s on sale. Extra love! From Etsy seller, La di Dottie!

Folks, you know how I feel about gingham and ricrac. And then add in a little applique—and I’m near swooning. So you can imagine how my heart is aflutter over this adorable little dressie from Etsy seller, Bird Avenue Baby!

It’s Timmy Time!  And Timmy Time is super adorable!  I love this rainbow clock of cuteness! From Etsy seller, Vintage Jane.

Happy Monday!

Apologies from Juror #6!

Friends, this has been quite a week! I was in jury duty and actually came thiiiissss close to being selected. For 2.5 days I was Juror #6….sat in the jury box, was interviewed by the defense and the prosecution. It was pretty exciting. I was a little torn, partly wanting to be excused and partly dying of curiosity how the case was going to play out. It was a very dramatic trial with a kinda creepy defendant (even his attorney would say things like, “Even if you think my client is weird. Even if you think he’s got a bizarre lifestyle or seems unappealing….you must presume he is innocent!” Wow. Way to defend your guy!). Our jury panel had a host of intriguing characters too, including a totally sweet looking older woman who during jury questioning said, “Have I ever been convicted of a crime? Um, yes. Vandalism.” What??? She then quickly added, “But it’s ok, I’ve taken anger management courses and I’m back on track.” Double wow! Eventually I was excused. And a little disappointed, I can’t lie!

Anyway, I haven’t been online much this week nor able to blog, but I’ll be back next week in full force. To tide you over in the meantime, I have a few images from an old 1976 Sears catalog that I thought were kind of hilariously awesome. Enjoy!

YES! That’s Shelly Hack, in her Pre-Charlie’s Angels modeling days.

Just in case you missed it….here’s a close up of the boys jammin’

SASSY! I do love that logo. Hey, HANDS OFF muh jeans!

This calculator cracks me up. Could it possibly have MORE keys???

And of course, some adorable kiddos in their colorful gear. Oh, to have THESE babies in the Retro Roundup!

HEE HAW! Happy Friday people!

Vintage Flashback:: AIR HOCKEY!

Opener: Image via Flickr

I grew up with four older brothers–which means I watched a lot of air hockey.

It seems everyone’s wood paneled basement/rec room had one of those huge-ass games.  Not as prententious as billiards. Not as pokey and annoying as foosball. Just right.

I remember our huge air hockey table as being a perfect place to play under with my dolls and a blanket.  That is until my brothers turned the beast on and it hummed and began to vibrate with airy awesomeness.

I still remember the very distinct sound that puck made when it connected with the little plastic handled guard.  And it was not unusual for the puck to go careening off the table and hitting one of my brothers somewhere in the face region.

Air hockey was pretty serious then.  I remember that there were two types of holds. A.) The full hand hold which allowed for more bicep power.  And then there was B.) the finger hold, which looked more cavalier looking, but allowed for quicker movements.

My brothers often played to the death. None of them would ever back down from an air hockey challenge which often led to many a girlfriend sitting limply to the side bored out of her mind waiting for them to finish the blasted game.

Nowadays, home air hockey tables are a rare sighting. Perhaps ditched in the eighties making room for a bowflex or whatever new fad was popular. Sigh.

Now and then, I’ll see one at an arcade or estate sale and I can’t help but remember those sad, forgotten girlfriends waiting for my brothers to finish the game. And the winner dances my brothers would perform after they scored the final shot.

Did you play air hockey?

The Dames Turn Calendar Girls, with Snapfish!

Oh friends. We love a good party. And we are kind of obsessed with taking photos. So when we had the opportunity to host a Snapfish Photo Party, well….we were pretty excited. We decided to invite our gal pals, The Dames over for a little brunchie and to share them with some super duper cute calendars we made….starring all of them! Our friends are a bunch of hams (glamorous hams, of course!) and we love a good photo booth.

First up? A fabulous breakfast. Lots of yummy treats (including Dottie’s famous homemade quiche—SO GOOD!).

Snapfish gave us some fun decor that Dottie used to make a sassy little banner. We hung it over a simple pink tablecloth and voila! Instant photobooth! Snapfish also sent along some really adorable little props for our photobooth, as well. Let’s just say they were a hit!

But then it was time for the piece de resistance, the calendars! Here are some of the girls with their little pink totebags. They were dying to know what was inside….

The looks on their faces when they saw the calendars were priceless. They were a smash! Each month had 2-3 photos of all of us at various restaurants around San Francisco. We were even able to add special mini photos on specific dates on the calendar, which was super cool. It was reeeeally easy to make, I have to say.

As the ladies flipped through the pages, laughing and grinning, discussion quickly turned to, “I totally need to make one of these for my parents!” and “These are so cute, I can’t decide between a photo book or this for the kids!”

Yes, taking pictures of people taking pictures….of pictures. Ahem.

The Dames were brimming with ideas for photobooks! Dame Lynn is thinking about making a photo book of her recent trip to New Orleans! Dame Doe is planning on making a photo book for a co-worker who is moving away. Shona, our resident teacher was thinking a photo book of her classroom would be a cute way to commemorate the year! I have to add that I was so transfixed by our old photo albums, my mom once made me a Snapfish calendar featuring pictures of her and my Tante Maria in all their groovy 60s best! It was so special and cool—the possibilities are really endless!

After Dottie took these shots of her little Peach hanging out in the kitchen and with her sweet grandad, she came up with the idea of doing a photo book of family recipes as well as pictures. Such a great idea!

Of course, theeeeeen we all went a little crazy with the props and the photos taking…

All in all it was such a fun get together! Have you made a photo book or calendar for someone? Its such a personal present to give to someone. We give it a big ol thumbs up!
