The Next MK Little Book Report Club is…

It’s the return of the Modern Kiddo Little Book Report Club! We all loved Are You There God, It’s Me, Margaret and chatted about it at great length.

I’m pleased to announce our next book will be From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. This is one of Alix’s favorite childhood books and I’m so excited to read it! It’s about a brother and sister who run away from home and hide in the Metroplitan Museum of Art.  Hello, how on EARTH did I NOT read this brilliant sounding book!

You can pick up your own copy of From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler here, download it to your Kindle here, or get a copy from Etsy seller, Enchanted Book Room over here!

I can’t WAIT to read it! Have you read it?  Are you in??

  1. I just started reading this out loud to my fourth-graders last week! Aside from the understandable questions that arise from a book set in the *ahem* “olden times,” they love it! I’m now terrified of ever taking them on another museum field trip again!

On a side note, the new book by Brian Selznik (he wrote “The Invention of Hugo Cabret”) gives a HUGE hat-tip to this book. It’s called “Wonderstruck” – I haven’t finished it yet, but so far it’s breathtaking!

    1. Oooh really?? (re; Selznik) I’ll have to give it a look.
Yes this book is so awesome, and its true…..writers back in the day were a little less concerned with being “correct” about things. haha. YAY for reading it to the kids!
