It’s the Modern Kiddo Ornament Party! Featuring Kristin of klt:works!

While poking around my inspiration files, I stumbled upon this photo from a 1966 issue of Better Homes and Gardens:

It’s fun to make your own ornaments and there are boatloads of fancy tutorials out there…but there was such a charming simplicity to these that I loved. It got me thinking, what’s more fun than a simple ornament that you can simply cut, glitter up and hang on the tree with a ribbon?? So I reached out to some of my fabulous friends and asked them if they would create a special ornament especially for Modern Kiddo readers….and I was thrilled when they said YES! Just you wait til you see these amazing creations. We’ll have one-a-day (“plus vitamins!”) for the next few days as we count down til Christmas.

Today we are pleased as punch to feature these adorable winter woodland creatures ornments from my amazing friend Kristin—of klt:works.

I know, HOW CUTE ARE THESE LITTLE GUYS??? The ladybug, the owl and the leggy bird…each as festive as the next!  Simply click here to download the ornament sheet and print it out. You can print on thicker paper OR print on regular paper and then use a glue stick to glue the sheet to a thicker paper or construction paper. Use scissors to carefully cut around each critter. A hole punch at the top completes the ornament and yer ready to hang! (Can we also discuss that AMAZING CARDBOARD TREE?? Kristin you are so awesome….)

I love the stripy baker’s twine Kristin used, but a ribbon or even plain string would work dandy! Leave them “as-is” or embellish with a touch of glitter (just image the lady bug with sparkly spots!).

Download your ornament here. Ornaments are for personal use only!

This is the lovely lady behind these fabulous ornaments:

Kristin is an incredible artist who creates the most fabulous pieces—lucky for us she sells a selection of them at her Etsy shop (the mobiles and kiddo clothing are among our faves!). She also has an always inspiring blog, klt:sketchbook that I love to pop by. If you are a long time Modern Kiddo reader you will remember this fabulous room tour we did of her little guy Sayer’s bedroom. Speaking of Sayer, I have to show him off again. He is SUCH a cutie:

I love Sayer’s caps….totally adorable! And the kitty tee is klt:works, of course!

Please show this talented lady some love! Be sure to visit her site and Etsy shop—and while you’re at it, add her on Twitter and Facebook! You can find here here:

Kristin, thank you so so much for this charming ornament! We heart you big time!

And if you haven’t checked out my special Vintage Christmas Music Mix, download that too!

I’m Dreeeeaming of a Retro Christmas!

We just arrived in Michigan and it’s cold and wintery. Greg and I are doing some last minute shopping while Wolfie hangs out with Grandmama and Opi. We also brought Tuxie the cat with us! He was freaked out on the plane but he is thrilled to be here with everyone now!

For Vintage Kiddo Monday I thought you would love to see some of these cool old photos. I love them—all the little trees are so sweetly misshapen.

Brrr…. The Coziest Vintage Kiddo Retro Round Up Ever

Twas the week before Christmas and all through the ‘net, a few vintage goodies could still be met!

It’s true. Although we are heading into the final countdown to holiday goodness, Etsy and eBay are still loaded with vintage goodies for you all!

Let’s start it off with vintage baby boots that are too almost (almost) too darn cute! From Etsy seller, Little Vintage Violet.

You know I love plaid, but this plaid has my heart. It’s like a rainbow plaid of joy in dress form.  And the little button placket is KILLIN’ ME!  J’adore, 3 Ring Circus.

Matryoshka dolls aren’t the only things cute from Russia, natch like this sweet Vintage Russian shirt is quite the catch.  From eBay seller, pycckoe.

A bit of pretty striped red dress so sweet it could rot a tooth. From Etsy seller, Mother Midnight.

I’m totally in love with these sweet size seven green and gray suede saddle shoes are too adorable for words. And they are wide which means they would probably fit most kids today.  From eBay seller, Eegnats.

It’s so cold outside that one would know something like this darling plaid coat with velvet collar to boot. From Etsy seller, PirateB00ty.

Rocking horse and cowboy cuteness in cardi form. I love a good hand knit and it doesn’t get any cuter than that!  From Etsy seller, Sweet Moonlight Shop.

I want to have another little baby girl just so I can buy this beautiful beautiful beautiful widdle perfect pink baby sweater. I die. You are a wonder, Frecklewonder!

This charming sweater is perfect for a little anglophile on your Christmas list.  From eBay seller, Connie Marble.

Miss Lish never lets us down. But since her shop has more than 400 pieces of vintage kid clothing in it combined with her great eye for kid’s clothes–well how could I not find such goodies like this polky-dotty doggie romper.

Not to shabby of a round up this week.

And this is going to be a great week coming up, people. Alix has rounded up some wonderful bits of holiday cheer that I think will bring many a smile to you all.  So, make sure to come back twice a day for some sweet little Christmas goodies that will certainly make you smile.

Real Life and 6 Kiddo Linkies!

Ho ho ho my lovelies! Oh my golly it’s been a koo koo crazy December but this weekend we’re packin’ up our warmest duds and heading to Michigan! I can’t wait for a beautiful snowy white Christmas—although I’m sure I’ll freeze my butt off. Living in California for over ten years I forget how ch-ch-chilly it can be! Here is a little peek at where we are heading:

Isn’t it perty??? I can’t wait! Miss Dottie and I will be posting next week (in fact I have some very special HOLIDAY ORNAMENT DOWNLOADS to stun and amaze!) but then the week after that we’ll probably be on a little bit of a looser schedule….postin’ here and there and checking in with ya’ll! Until then, here are some sweet little links that caught my eye over the week!

4. Loverly Watercolor Paper Chain

I forget how easy making a paper chain is….and look how love this one from Jordan Ferney is:

See more about how she made it over here.

5. Orange Paper Snowflakes

Speaking of lovely paper…we had a fun evening making paper snowflakes the other night…I have no photos because hey, sometimes it’s better to just live life then spend your time documenting (note to self…sometimes as bloggers I think we get so caught up in the documentation part of life! But that’s a whole other post….). I was quite taken with these gorgeous snowflakes from How About Orange, and the instructions for making them were really easy! Find them here.

6. A Brilliant Sputnik DIY

Lastly, check out this most incredible DIY project from Dabito at Old Brand New. He used one of those mobiles originally meant for photos and swapped them out for Christmas ball ornaments! GENIUS! See how he did it here.

That’s all for now my lovelies. Have an amazing weekend! When I write to you next it will be from snowy Michigan! Oh, and if you liked this post….be a love and click that brown “Vote for Us” box at the top of ze blog, on the left column. (That’s all you have to do, it won’t give you a prompt but it registers you as a coming to their site from Modern Kiddo!)
