Sponsor Spotlight // B.Inspired Vintage + 20% Off!

Gather round friends! It’s time for another awesome sponsor spotlight…today we have the always awesome Krissy from B.Inspired Vintage! Miss Krissy grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania where she earned her Master’s Degree in Art Education from the local University. She started teaching art to high school students, had her first child and eventually moved back to her hometown, where she started her entrepreneurial efforts at B.Inspired Vintage and B.Inspired Mama. She’s been going ever since!

Red Windbreaker

MK: Hi Miss Krissy! It’s so great to chat with you. Let’s talk vintage! Can you tell us, how did you end up selling vintage?

K: I started selling handmade on Etsy, but quickly found it hard to balance creating, marketing, and being a mama. So I turned to vintage! My love for it has grown ever since! It’s actually very practical having kids, because they can wear and play with the items first!

MK: Sort of your own personal toy and clothing testers! Speaking of, how many kiddos do you have? And do they wear a lot of vintage?

K: I am proud to be mama to Sawyer (4 years old) and Priscilla (2 years old). AND we have baby #3 on the way! Being a stay-at-home mama, Etsy entrepreneur, blogger, and mama to two little ones keeps me very busy. I have a harder time finding vintage for Sawyer, but Priscilla has lots of vintage dresses that she calls her “princess dresses.” I love to dress both of them in bright, primary colors.

MK: Aw congratulations! How exciting!

MK: I hear you’re an ex-art teacher! YAY! I love that….were you always into art and drawing as a child?

K: Yes, I may not be teaching right now, but once an art teacher, always an art teacher! I hope to go back someday. Believe it or not, I actually remember being more musical than artistic as a child. I was always singing at church and in school chorus. But I was forced to choose between chorus and art when creating my schedule in 10th grade. I chose art and never looked back!

MK: Lady, you have so many fun items in the shop right now, if you had to pick what is one of your favorites?

K: I have such a hard time choosing, since I really love everything that I list in my shop! I always love the ones that my kids had a chance to wear, like this Colorful Pinwheel Dress that Priscilla wore when she was little. And if I knew yet that this baby will be a boy, this Vintage Little Soldier Newborn Sleeper wouldn’t still be in the shop!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HENRY!

Yesterday was a special day for a certain young somebody.  When I first met Henry he looked like this:

He was so cute and sweet! I didn’t have Wolfie yet, and I  loved hearing stories about all his adventures from his mama Jenny. And then that little cowboy started to grow. And soon he was this little dude:

Henry is Master of 1,000 Faces! Always up for a photo shoot with mama. {And as an aside, Wolfie is now the proud owner of that cowboy shirt….the next generation of cute indie boys continues! I’ll be sure to pull these photos out when they are in their teens…}

Then suddenly, that little guy became a bigger guy. He was now an awesome older brother. An awesome student. A great friend. AND a musician! He started playing violin (and very well, I might add!). Then somehow, unbelieveably…..

That’s right. It’s someones birthday.

We are so proud of you and all your accomplishments….you are fun and goofy and smart and kind. The best things to ask for in a son. Ten is a terrific age to be! I can’t wait to see what the next years bring for you. You can bet I’ll be asking your mama for updates!

Friends, swing by frecklewonder and wish this awesome kiddo a happy birthday, won’t you?

Oooh La La! Announcing Summer Hours.

image: gbaku

Well hello friends! As you know we loooooooove us some posting here on the Kiddo. Tpically we post everyday (heck often twice a day!), but in the spirit of summer vacation we have decided to mix it up a little. We are pleased to announce that we are officially going on “Summer Hours” for the months of June thru August. So what the heck does that mean? Well I’ll tell ya! It means we’ll still be posting like crazy, BUT we might take a day off here or there as we see fit. And never fear! We’ll still be scouring the web (and hopping in our sassy time machine) to bring you the bestest vintage content out there all summer long…we just might take a Tuesday off here or there. Or perhaps a Thursday. Or maybe a Tuesday AND a Thursday if the weather is reeeeally fab! So there you have it. Summer Hours! It just means we’ll be a little more laid back and California. And say, if you are a blogger too, I highly recommend you adopting some Summer Hours too!

MK Giveaway: Fuzzymama!

Update: ALAS, THIS GIVEAWAY IS OVER! Thanks to all who entered.

Calling all vintage loving mamas! This giveaway is for YOU!

Friends, today we have an AMAHZING giveaway from one of my all time favorite Etsy sellers–a $50 gift certificate to Etsy vintage seller, Fuzzymama.

Why, oh why is this so grand you ask? Because Fuzzymama has more than 200 items of vintage awesomeness including one of the best curated and well priced selections of kiddo clothing around.  Mmmhmmm… I discovered Fuzzymama early on in my Etsy foraging trips for the weekly MK Vintage Kiddo Round Up and I found myself coming back again and again and buying again and again too.

But behind the terrific shop is an equally terrific gal, Beth! So we sat down for some e-sweet tea one lazy hour this Memorial Day weekend for the following lovely chat.

MK: Lady, how did you get into vintage kid’s clothing?
Fuzzy Mama Beth: I have always been an avid thrifter/flea marketer.  I got into vintage kids clothing when my husband and I happened upon a thrift store one Valentine’s Day three years ago(yes, my husband loves to thrift as much as i do!)–it was PACKED with all these amazing kids outfits from the sixties and seventies that were barely worn.  I could not leave them there.  We packed our carts with about 70 outfits (I have never had such a coup since!), got a lot of weird looks, and headed home knowing I could do something with these gems.!  I had heard of etsy and after a bit of research, Fuzzymama was born!!

MK: Amen, sister! I have to ask, do you have a favorite era for kid’s clothing?
Fuzzy Mama Beth: I think I am most attracted to the seventies because thats when I grew up. I love the quality of the pieces from back then. And the bold prints–kids clothes seemed to be more fun! Boys clothes from the sixties and seventies always get me, too.  I love a good classic jonjon–nothing sweeter on a little guy!

MK: You had me at Jon Jon!  How did you come up with the name FuzzyMama?
Fuzzy Mama Beth: The name Fuzzymama came from Fuzzybug, my online dating handle when I met my husband!!! (MK: Ha! That’s hilarious!)  I was a bit of a pioneer in online dating—I highly recommend it.  : ) My husband had a card company he named Fuzzybug, I started my etsy shop shortly after that.  Our son Harrison, was 2 at the time and Truman was a newborn. (yes, the same names as Lishyloo–we vintage mamas think alike!!) (MK: LOVE IT! It IS a spectacular name!) and it was a GREAT way for me to make extra cash, have a blast, and stay home with my guys.

MK: This is a hard question–What is your favorite item in the shop right now?
FuzzyMama Beth: I am loving the houndstooth trench for a little boy–and the little nautical romper is frame worthy!!   I have also kept a few of the TGL Stockholm shirts for myself–there is nothing like a good vintage Scandinavian pattern.

MK: You and me both. I have such a weakness for all things Swedish.

And I have a weakness for Fuzzy Mama’s shop too! And you would too.  And here is the best things about it–she also sells amazing goods for Mamas too!  Such darling vintage shoes, purses and of course clothes!

And wonderful housewares too…

It’s the Vintage Kiddo Retro Round Up!

Oh three day weekends are so wonderful.  I love having that extra day to hang out with the family. And I even managed to spend two hours tackling the evil attic craft lair, which I will share with you one day… But before I start up the BBQ, I wanted to share some grand Memorial Day treats with you all. And I must admit, I have some outstanding ones today.

You know I love nothing more than a good matching mother daughter outfit. Well, check it out–a matching vintage mother/daughter outfit!!! GAAHHH!!! Insert head exploding sound.  From Ebay seller, Attic*Fanatics.

Whoever said BINGO couldn’t be fun? Not I! Especially when it comes in such a charming box like this where the family playing it is seen peeking through the curtains. Adorable! From Scout Dry Goods.

When I saw this little vintage HealthTex bit of cuteness I actually gasped. Farming? Little shovel? Stop it! You are killing me HealthTex! From Etsy seller, Mama Fabun.

ZOMG! I loved these games as a kid! Go Milton Bradley Waterfuls!  There was always one in the pediatrician’s office.  From Etsy seller, Topsy’s Attic.

The Littlest has this little vintage two piece set listed as a “Spoonful of Sugar” because it is so darn sweet.  Who am I to protest with that?

We all love vintage Fisher Price, right? Well, feast your eyes on this vintage gem–the parking garage with a starting bid of $9.99.  Remember how we all thought it would be so cool to work in a parking garage because of this game? Yeah!  From Ebay seller, Lilfoxys.

Now that it is after Memorial Day, you can start wearing white shoes, right?  Well, check out these wee cuties from Etsy seller, Hart & Sew.

Speaking of wearing white, check out this adorable nautical ensemble for a baby!  I think this would be a wonderful item to put a little baby boy in for a summer wedding.  SO CUTE! Great find, 3 Ring Circus!

Does anyone else remember these Morgan books? I don’t remember much about them other than that I LOVED them. Anyone? From Etsy seller, Treasure Hunt Vintage.

I think these might be the perfect little lounging about capri pants for a little girl. Imagine them with red salt water sandals and a plain white puff sleeved t-shirt. And BAM–baby summer perfection! From Etsy seller Oliver’s Forest.

Check out this sweet vintage kids suitcase. Perfect for that first overnight trip to Grandma’s house! I also love using vintage luggage for additional storage too.  Cute and handy!  From Etsy seller, Cheeky Vintage Closet.

Oh and of course, I saved the best for last. I remember LOVING magazines when I was a kid.  Although I only had one subscription (to World Magazine, of course) I always read my brother’s Bananas and Dynamite magazines. And good gravy–this Dynamite/Bananas collection offered by Etsy seller, Rigamarole includes five of perhaps the best issues ever featuring on the cover–Battlestar Galactica, Happy Days, Suzanne Somers, Jaclyn Smith, and a special double issue incudling Superman/Christopher Reeves and Dolly Parton.  I know. I know. It’s almost too much to take.

Happy Memorial Day, friends!
