1. YUM POP
Oh my, key lime pie popsicles? Strawberry shortcake? These dessert popsicles look too good to eat! Almost…

{and check out this new Ben & Jerry’s flavor that had me drooling last night!}

2. A-MAZE-ING CRAFT FROM GIDDY GIDDY.
I could put Teri in here every week…check out her latest awesomeness. Take one old CD jewel case, some bendy wax string (Bendaroos) and one cute little 7 year old, and what do you get? An awesome maze DIY project.

3. SASSY BAGS
Yeah, I’m a bag girl. I can’t resist a good tote. These two from gooeybags are THE BOMB. So good. (found via Planet Awesome Kid)

4. KICK GLASS BOTTLES
I love this new trend for perty glass drinking/water bottles. They are the perfect combination of cool design & sustainability. These designs are all particularly fantastico!

I love the milk bottle style of these faucetface designs:

These next ones from bkr have a great, no-slip, silicone sleeve that helps you grip it more easily—they also give the glass a chic, slightly frosted look. My pal Toria has one of these and I’m reeeally coveting it:

These taller bottles also have a colorful silicone sleeve but more of a Mickey’s Big Mouth opening. From life factory. I think I need one.

5. SWEET TREAT
My other (sadly neglected) blog is called Strawberry Lemonade…an homage to this quirky spin on an old favorite. When I stumbled upon this recipe I was immediately craving it. Yummmm.

6. KIDS WEAR NEON
Lovely Irene from Bloesem Kids seems to always find the most delightful stuff—and now she’s MAKING cool stuff. I love these charming crystal necklaces with quirky cool neon ties. It’s called Kids Wear Neon.

7. BAD ASS BALLERINA
The sassy girlie over at Orange Juice made these studded ballet slippers. Me likey.

8. MAUS HAUS

Ahhhhh. A little dollhouse shaped like a milk carton, just the right size for a teeny mouse? Seriously? SO CUTE.

And yes. That Little Red Pram is reeeeeally cute. Even if it IS maus size. Here is a closer look:

9. FIRST LADY ROCKS IT

I love seeing these photos of Michele Obama on her tour of Europe. We haven’t had a chic first lady since You Know Who. I loved this slide show of her ensembles.

10. FELT SO GOOD

We’ve all seen wall decals and stickers….but I’ve never seen them made out of FELT before. And wow. I think these FLOCK decals are pretty rockin….

11. LIKE A ROLLING STONE
I stumbled upon this picture of Bob Dylan and it reminded me so much of….well. Um…..yeah. Pretty awesome.

By the way, I’ve recently become an Instagram addict (a free iPhone photography app). It’s so fun. Kinda like flickr meets twitter. I’m galexina on there. Feel free to follow me for more photo fun! And HAPPY FRIDAY!!! Have a most fabulous weekend!

1. BLOCK HEAD COOL.
They say good things come in little packages and artist Suzanna Scott proves this point. I love these little painted collage blogs from sushipot.

2. SUNSHINE GIRLS.
Little girls in sweet little dresses? Ain’t nothin’ cuter. And juliette sunshine does it so very well.

3. GIVE ‘EM THE BIRD.
I know birds are a TAD played out (have you seen this hilarious snippet from the show Portlandia?) But I still love ’em. Judy Kaufman’s take on the bird is oh-so-quirky and fun.

4. GOOD ENOUGH TO EAT. OR FRAME.
I used to love playing with my spirograph back in the 70s. And I love to eat cupcakes. So thank you, crazy baker lady (aka the genius Lori Hernandez) for making these GORGEOUS treats that are mind bogglingly cool.

5. ONE MAN’S TRASH.
Robert Bradford is a cool dude. He takes old toys and refashions them into these really rad sculptures. Me likey. (via smudgetikka)

6. TREE LOVE.
I have a thing for treehouses. I find them so charming and cool. And this one is kinda like my dream treehouse—futuristicly organic. Huh? Is that even a word? Who cares! Party at my treehouse!

7. OH BABY, BABY!
Take our adorable friend Melissa…..

And add one reeeeally cute little fella named Arlo

And you get Insta-Adorable. Congratulations sweet lady! We are so very happy for you! Swing by and congratulate the new mama.

8. COLOR ME FAB.
Gaaaaahhhhhh, color. Droooooool. Need I say more? Look here for more. Found via designlovefest

9. CATHY OF CALIFORNIA.

Cathy is brilliant. She is also very nice. Besides being a Flickr friend, I met her in person at Renegade SF a few years ago and I can tell you she is very cool. Miss Dottie and I have been SO excited for her new book. It’s everything we love…and I know you will too! We have a full blown Cathy Extravaganza in the works, but here is a sneaky peeky:

10. PRETTY WISE WORDS.

1.  TIP TOP CUTIE

i am LOVING the bold graphic colors of tip top afrika. The bow tie is especially fetching, no? (via kick can & conkers)

2. GIDDY GIDDY YUP

My beautiful friend Teri’s latest creations are soooo excellent. I looooove the Tiger but you really can’t go wrong with an Octopus with a moustache, eh?? I think this is an instance where mama can definitely pull this off too. From giddy giddy.

3. PILLOW TALK

I was smitten when I saw these super charming Pillow Dresses at my friend Rachel was making for her little cutie Ruby. But I was even more charmed when I realized she was also making extras to send to children in Haiti. So lovely. Read how you can contribute too.

4. NEEDLEPOINTERS

Hee. These little guys from nicole gastonguay rule. (via whorange)

5. REMIXING DRESSIES FOR TOTS

This refashioned kid’s dress is so cute….you won’t believe what it looked like before Stacy over at hart and sew got her hands on it. BRAVO lady!

6. CRAY CRAY FOR CRAYONS

Pilgrim’s Love List is pretty rockin’. While the spendy green satchel is truly my fave, this rad Crayon Maker really had me grinning.

7. MAKE A DEPOSIT AT THE HAPPY BANK

Oh little Rainbow Bank, how happy you make me. It’s called ‘Sugamo Shinkin Bank’, a credit union located in Shimura, Japan. (via Swiss Miss)

8. THE  99 CENT RUMPUS

It’s no secret I love Target. And I was mighty pleased to discover they have some cute Where the Wild Things Are goodies in their 99 cent bins at the front of the store! Cups, bowls, notepads. Check ’em out!

9. PIP PIP HURRAY!

My friend Heather of 3 Ring Circus Vintage has three awesome kiddos, but I have to say I have a huge soft spot for little Penelope.

She was our very first Weekly Kiddo girlie, waaay back when, and if you haven’t swung by the Pippi Parade, then boy are you missing out!

10. PRETTY WISE WORDS.

Spied over at design love fest. Love them both.

Friday Link Hootenanny…On Saturday!

1. GIDDY GIDDY TWIRLS

My marvelous “in person” friend teri (meaning she actually lives in the same city as me!) is always coming up with really creative stuff. She recently coordinated the most fantastic art show at Wolfie’s elementary school. It was AMAZING. She recently made a cool twirly toy that I thought was completely charming. You can check it out at giddy giddy—and this super cute video!

2. MODERN KIDDO INSPIRES

Over here at Modern Kiddo we are all about celebrating the favorite bits of our childhood. One of my favorite things is seeing how we have inspired many readers and bloggers to embrace the creativity of the vintage kiddo lifestyle! Like check out this AMAZING cake that lovely reader Maria in Berlin sent us. She saw my post on vintage cakes and made her own. It is SO fab and just made me grin from ear to ear!

And check out one of our faves, little Billy from New Zealand (who you may remember from this rockin’ Weekly Kiddo feature!).

His sweet mama Gabrielle wrote, “I spotted these great plaid pants in your roundup a few weeks ago and although they were a little big I bid on them as well as another fabulous pair with matching shirt in a smaller size from the same seller. They arrived this week and thought you might like to see some pics of Billy wearing them along with a thrifted 70s tie. Thanks so much for finding great boys vintage!” Thank YOU Gabrielle! How fun to see!

3. FRECKLEWONDER CELEBRATES

My other favorite Dotty had a birthday this week—happy birthday little cutie!! Loads of love from Auntie Alix and your friends at Modern Kiddo!

4. BABIEKINS ROCKS IT OUT.

Take a look at this…..recognize the name???

You can imagine how thrilled I was when my sweet friend Inessa (of Diaper Style Memoirs) told me that my Wolfie was the inspiration for an illustrated character she created in Babiekins Mag! This issue is really fun. You can all the illustrations here.

5. NALOGINA LUBOV GETS FOXY.

How cute are these little handmade fox dolls?? I spied them over on Handmade Charlotte, but they are created by Russian Designer Nalogina Lubov.

6. AN APP ROCKETS TO THE TOP

The rad ladies of Cool Mom Picks posted this awesome tip from Jessica Seinfeld on Cool Mom Tech.”One of my kids is in a deep obsession with space right now. I didn’t have all the answers, so I found the NASA app , which features beautifully detailed, up-close photos of planets and stars, as well as video of rocket and shuttle launches.”

The app is free, friends. Pretty excellent!

7. STELLA GOES RETRO

IF i had a little girl and IF I had a zillion dollars….I would soooooo buy this romper suit. But to get the red or the stripy with WINGS??

Also, if the spirit moves ya, won’t you please head on over and give us a thumbs up at the Circle of Moms Top 25 Kids’ Style blog? No registering necessary, just one click. Click the circle below or the badge on the top right to vote. Yee haw!!

Yee haw! It’s the Friday Link Hootenanny

It’s FRIDAY which means it’s the weekend. Ladies and gentlemen I am SO excited because this week is our SPRING BREAK. Greg and I were trying to figure out who would take off work to be with Wolfie. And after a round of “Well, i can take off 2 days, can you do the other 3?” We looked at each other and said, “Ummm…..why not take the whole darn five and go on vacation!” So guess where we’re headed? HAWAII!!!!!!!!! Oh my lerdy I am so excited I can’t even tell you. This is our first proper family vacation EVER since Wolfie was born. We usually go to visit my parents or Greg’s parents—and we’re lucky, my parents live on a super lovely lake in Michigan and Greg’s parents live in sunny Myrtle Beach, so we always have a great time. But this is our first “just we three” getaway. On a plane. To a hotel. Not in California. Whoo hoo!

Miss Dottie will be here to hold down the fort and I have some awesome Guest Bloggers who will be filling in for me. While I’m off dreaming of pineapple fizzy drinks and lounging poolside, I wanted to leave you with some fun links that caught my eye this week!

1. THE COLORFUL PLANTASAURUS.

I love these amazing Dino Planters. They’re so simple and cool. Great for a kiddo bedroom  but would also be fab in a funky living room. Planting succulents is genius because they need minimal watering!

2. WHO DAT TAT?

Oh ho ho! Check this dapper dan out! Is it weird to want a Strong Man Doll? I love it! I guess he might be a little creepy looking to a child, but I think he would be SO cool just hanging around.

3.  WING DING.

I spied these amazing superhero shoes on Babble and thought they were just too cool. Not sure whether to get them for Wolfie or myself!

4. DO THE HOKEY POKEY.

OK, admittedly this hedgehog pencil holder is a little dangerous for really small kiddos, but it’s SO CUTE for older kids! You could always insert the pencils point down too, if you wanted. So sweet.

5. RICKY SCHROEDER AIN’T GOT NOTHING ON THESE BABIES.

I don’t know what’s more confusing about these silver spoons. The fact that they are “infused with a proprietary silver anti-microbial ion” OR the fact that they are produced by Roman Coppola, Sofia’s little brother. I’m tempted to make “born with a silver spoon” jokes but you know, that’d be too easy.

6. SMITEN WITH THE MITTEN.

I thought this michigan print made out of conifers was so charming I kinda want it for my house. I’m a Michigan girlie, ya know. What is your home state?

7. PUCKER UP LEMON CAKES.

If you were going camping, how fun and cool would it be to impress the camp fire crowd with these lemonade cakes?? Yep. You bake them right  inside a lemon.

8. BEAUTIFUL FLIGHTS OF FANCY.

Oh my. I just can’t get over these beautiful crafty wings I spied via inessa at little miss heirlooms. Have you ever?? Dottie I think the Peach needs some of these STAT!

9. BIG TOP BIG WIG.

This is the cutest invitation. Jenny/ Frecklewonder sent me a link to Twittering Bird and I fell in love! Mama Cassie made these circus birthday invitations for her son Avery. That’s him in the illustration too. How clever and creative! See more on her blog, Twittering Bird.

10. RETRO

The Jealous Curator (via SFGirlByBay) posted this fab collection of vintage-inspired art that i thought was really fantastically cool.

So that’s it folks! Have an amazing weekend. I’ll be reporting to you next from the sunny shores of HAWAII!
