Meet Miss Q! Our Weekly Kiddo

I try not to play favorites with our Weekly Kiddo. You know I truly love them all! But I have to say that this week’s kiddo is OFF THE CHARTS FABULOUS. Meet the amazing Q. This child has such an eclectic and quirky style. Her mama is Maia Chavez Larkin, a children’s fashion illustrator and designer. She is a style maven herself, so it’s no wonder that little Q is so stylish. Q was adopted from China at the age of eleven months. Now a leggy three and a half years old, she is a fulltime joy machine! You will notice that the sassy Miss Q is a super model in the making, her mama tells us she is in the 98th percentile in height which makes her quite a bit taller and gives her the appearance of being a little older. Her American name is Flynn, which I love almost as much as “Q”!

Ahhhhh! Am I right?  I love the silver leggings and that gigantic bow is MAJOR. So fantastic. Maia says that Q usually dislikes hair accessories and barrettes but was smitten with this splashy St. Patrick’s Day bow tie. Hilarious AND fabulous!

As an aside, Q lives in Colorado and apparently the weather fluctuates wildly. On this day it was extremely warm—even though there was still a bit of snow on the ground! (sounds suspiciously like our San Francisco weather….)

Ahhhhhhh! Pretty amazing huh? I wouldn’t lie to you peeps. I told you this was a special girl. While she may look high-maintenance with her chic ensembles, appearances are deceptive! Her mama told us:

“Q is a dyed-in-the-wool tomboy who would be happier running around like Mowgli of the jungle. She loves basketball, ice hockey, rock climbing, and really any sport that comes along. She has never met a sport she doesn’t adore. She loves trips to the museum and also loves to rock out with one of her play guitars. She can often be heard chanting “Hey! Ho! Let’s GO!” from the Ramone’s anthem Blitzkrieg Bop. We have an eclectic household, and she is definitely a product of her environment! She is much-loved by many via our blog, Une Envie de Sel. Her daddy is a journalist, and mommy is a children’s fashion illustrator…hence the rest of the wardrobe!”

Speaking of her mama, I had to include this sweet photo. You can see how adorable this pair is—and clearly Q inherited her mama’s fashion sense. Thank you so much Maia for sharing this amazing little one with us! Be sure to stop by Maia’s shop, The Voyager, to see more of her lovely work!

Meet the Peach! Our Weekly Kiddo!

Friends I’m bustin’ with pride today. Our Weekly Kiddo is none other than Miss Dottie’s amazing little Peach! With rosey cheeks and the sweetest smile you ever did see, this beautiful little girl is celebrating a birthday this weekend. Yup, the Peach is officially a grand Ol’ TWO!

Miss Dottie says that her Peachie’s style is all about mixin’ and matchin’. She wears loads of sassy vintage dresses, spunky leggings and a generous dollop of modern basics for a fun and comfy look. Let’s check out some of her adorable looks!

We start with a bang….this dress just might be my favorite. Sweet little vintage goodness with red ric-a-rac! What a dolly baby!

And this little seer sucker dressie is a dream! The teensy hair bow is so cute too…

I love Peach’s little neck scarves—so chic! Check out that rose-bud mouth. She’s a model in the making!

Aw yeah…..much as she loves the vintage, The Peach is also a modern glam girl! Check out these sassy spex!

Tee hee! That last one is a killer…
+ Molo jacket
+ Vintage elephant dress
+ Kawaii Kids leggings
+ Liv & Luca mushroom boots

+ Mod, orange dress made from vintage pillowcase, Etsy
+ Brown cardigan, Target
+ green and white stripe leggings, made by mama Dottie

It’s only fitting that Dottie’s little girlie loves POLKA DOTS! I love these leggings and the little tunic! And those Livi and Lucca mushroom booties are so cute:

This next one is so fab! She looks like a little Palm Springs Sprite!

+ green and white flower dressies, The Gap
+ Livi and Lucca red mary janes

The Peach sportin’ her Liberty of London romper!

Yay for a sweet little vintage green dressy on a sweet little lady! All she needs is a teensy kitty cat.

How terrific are all of these dressies? Well done, Miss Dottie! But you know what I reeeeally need to see again? It’s the Peach’s adorable Halloween gnome costume! This is probably the cutest thing around—bravo Dottie! And Miss Peach, you are pure stink town!

Her mama says:

“Miss Peach adores swimming (or schwimming as she calls it), pancakes, broccoli, yogurt, baby owls and all of her Golden books.  She loves art and is a great drawer. She enjoys wearing her hair in pony tails, and spending time not only with her grandparents and aunties but in the wonderful company of her dolls: “Baby,” “Other Baby,” “The Big One” and “Amy the Mermaid”. Her favorite thing to be is “cozy”—just like her Mama!  She is not a fan of bed time, bubblegum flavored medicine or the number 5.”

Oh little peachie, but we are a big fan of YOU! Happy birthday beautiful girl! I can’t wait to see what fun your mama has up her sleeve for your party!

Meet Hazel! Our Weekly Kiddo.

Whoo hooo, TGIF people! I’m soooo glad it’s Friday. Last weekend we had GLORIOUS weather….sunny, warm….it was fan-freakin’ tastic! Then this entire week has been ccccold and rainy. Boooo. Crossing my fingers that we go back to sunshine for the weekend! Before we sign off for the weekend we have a couple of things to share—first up, our Weekly Kiddo! This little sweet pea is from West Virginia and has one of the best names we’ve heard in a long time: HAZEL! Miss Hazel is a fabulous two and she loves to dress up.

Her sweet mama Jacklynn tells us that all these awesome outfits are thrifted or hand me downs from family friends! Whooo hoo! Sassy eco chic—our favorite! Thanks to growth spurts, children’s clothes often have such little wear you can really find some great things second hand. Let the show begin!

How cute is this little girlie with her sundress and wellies? I love the flower headband—and I think Miss Hazel does too! She looks pleased as punch.

This next outfit is one of my favorites! Love the mixing of stripes and polkadots!

We chatted with her mama Jacklynn and she had this to say about Hazel:

“Hazel dresses herself every day and she picked all these outfits out herself! She is very independent and sure of herself. I think that is how she gets away with looking so cute in the random outfits she puts together. She can put on a polka dot skirt with striped tights, and a flowered shirt and she thinks “I look good!” so everyone else does too!”

Hazel loves to play dress up and rainboots are her favorite footwear. (I love that!)

Sweet fancy moses, how cute is this kiddo?? [And I just know Dottie is going to flip for the name Hazel!!] This little lady loves to laugh and play outside. Her mama says that one of her favorite things is to play pretend with her little brother, Owen—mostly because she likes to boss him around! haha. She loves when her mommy reads to her and her best book is Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon. Of course her favorite activity is CRAFT TIME! (See Dottie? I knew you’d love this girlie….)

Jacklynn, thank you so much for sharing the adorable Miss Hazel with us!

Meet Macyn! Our Weekly Kiddo.

Happy Friday friends! It’s time for the Weekly Kiddo—our little Street Style salut to the fashion blogs where we profile a very stylish reader-submitted kiddo. I’m especially excited because we have a really super cute kiddo this week! Meet Miss Macyn Hope Arpi. This little California girlie is two and a half years old and has a smile that could melt an ice berg! Her sweet mama Heather gave us some insight into her pretty name:

“I love last names for first names and masculine names for girls. We have good friends with the last name Mason, so I changed the spelling to “Macyn” to give it a feminine twist! WE chose “Hope” because in our journey to becoming her parents hope was a key element to our survival!  And “Arpi” because we adopted her from an Armenian family and this was the name they gave her at birth. We felt it was important to honor her heritage and include it in her full name.”

Let’s take a look at Macyn’s fun style….

+ vintage pink cardigan
+ vintage floral dress
* Both items belonged to Macyn’s mama!

+ Grey skinny jeans from Gap
+ Tank from H&M [“I appliquéd the bird on with some amazing vintage fabric that I bought at an auction in Iowa last summer!”]

+ Dress, Old Navy
+ Heart tights, Old Navy
+ Hoodie, thrift store

“In this picture Macyn is wearing one of my favorite thrift store finds of all times! I got these overalls for $1 and they fit her like a glove! Her sneaks are Converse.”

+ Liberty of London dressie, Target

+ Vintage “little star” tee that was her mama’s when she was a kiddo!

+ Cozy cable-knit sweater,  Nordstroms
+ Shirt, O’Neil
+ Tiered skirt, Old Navy
+ Sassy leg warmers, Babylegs
+ Blue star sneaks, Converse

How cute is this little girlie? I just love her sweet smile. You can almost hear her giggling can’t you?? Heather told us a little more about her little sassy pants:

“Macyn loves people!  She is full of life and loves to dance and sing. One of her favorite thing to do is hang out with her friends.  She also enjoyings reading books and playing with her dolls. She is still learning to walk and she loves to use the furniture to cruise around the house.  And of course one of her favorite activities is thrifting with her mamma! Macyn has down syndrome and with that comes a lots of love and joy. I can say that Macyn is really one of the most loving, joyful, sassy kiddos I know!”

Oh Heather, we believe it! I’m sure she just lights up the room! Thank you so much for sharing her with us.
