Meet Cash! Our Weekly Kiddo

Happy Friday, friends. Our creepy Halloween week is quickly coming to a close, and in honor of our spooky fun, I bring you a special Weekly Kiddo. This is Cash and he is officially a Master of Disguise. Cash is the middle child of Modern Kiddo regular, Heather/Three Ring Circus Vintage. He is an incredibly handsome and stylish lad, but what makes him so awesome is his willingness to dress up in pretty much any costume his mom dreams up! Take it away Cash!

Tee hee. The hair….THE HAIR! This Werewolf costume is a favorite of mama Heather’s, and it only cost her $3 to make! Now that’s good craftin’!

This adorable little brave looks ready to be sidekick to the Lone Ranger.

Yeah DYING over this Hamburglar outfit—funny and fabulous.

Holy Cuteness, Batman! Check out this awesome super hero goodness!

This Robin outfit is crazy cute and was handcrafted by Heather from an authentic 70s pattern!

Cash’s whole family likes to get in on the action—here he is with his little sister Penelope and big brother Dax!

Heather told us:

“Cash is the boy I can convince to be anything: Wearwolf, Skunk, Robin….you name it! He loves it. His older brother Dax was born the week after Halloween but he has a mind of his own and is very particular about his outfits. Cash is our dress up superstar.”

A lot of the credit goes to Heather who clearly has a passion for dressing up…but also has a knack for making incredible homemade costumes. Take a look:

This skunk costume was worn by all three of Heather’s children. Stinky cute, as Miss Dottie would say!

And of course….a yummy, mummy made by a cute mummy! Bravo Heather! You are an inspiration and your gorgeous kiddos are amazing. YAY for CASH! Be sure to stop by Heather’s amazing vintage kiddo shop, Three Ring Circus.

PS
Before we go, I have to give you a peek at our sweet Modern Kiddo fave, Penelope (aka PIPPI!) in her Strawberry Shortcake costume. Loooooove ya little lady!

Meet Ingrid! Our Weekly Kiddo.

Howdy, howdy pals, it’s time for this week’s kiddo cutie—Ingrid. This little sassy pants is two years old and lives in mah loverly homestate of Michigan. Her mama Amber is one of our fave readers—and an awesome commenter, thank you very much—so I’m super excited to show off her sweet little girl. Amber dresses her in a combination of vintage and new, but most awesomely she makes a lot of Ingrid’s clothes herself. Since we have clearly established that I am the NON-sewing half of Modern Kiddo, I am always impressed by this. Let’s have a lookie at the super, adorable Ingrid!

Ingrid is a total sweetie. She loves music and her favorite band is Yo Gabba Gabba—she just saw their live show and is very proud of the special Yo Gabba tote bag that she got. She is an animal lover—cows, horses, goats, you name it—but her best pal is her dog Cody, who she loves to take  for walks by the lake. Ingrid also loves coloring, laughing, riding her tricycle and avocados. Mmmm. Avocados. Ingrid, you are my kinda gal.

Amber, thanks for sharing this super adorable little girlie with us!

Meet Billy! Our Weekly Kiddo.

Howdy, howdy, howdy friends! So I had to jet down to LA after work yesterday for a mad-dash 24 hour trip. (We were doing all our color correction for my Prague spots as well as recording Ron Livingston for our VO. Yup, the same Ron from Office Space—and Berger from Sex in the City. He has an incredible voice and was totally down to earth (drove a Prius, doncha know). Anyway, I’m back home and utterly pooped…and remembered, “Shoot! It’s Friday tomorrow!!! That means Weekly Kiddo!” I can’t lie, it’s tough sometimes juggling life, work  and blog, but I have to tell you Modern Kiddo never fails to make me smile. As I pulled up this week’s cutie, I just couldn’t stop grinning. Lemme tell you, this little lad is a heartbreaker with a capital “H” my friends. He’s 4-year-old Billy from Auckland, New Zealand his style is very rock-n-roll, comfy cool. He’s awesome!

We chatted with Billy’s awesome mama Gabrielle who told us a little bit about Billy’s style:

When we first discovered we were having a boy (after two girls!) we despaired at the range of clothing. It seemed the choices were camo, polar fleece trackies or appliqued pastel animals! I ended up making lots of his clothes by upcycling thrifted clothes and using vintage patterns and fabrics. Over the last 5 years we have worked out how to dress a stylish wee boy, which is lucky because he now has a 20 month brother Arlo. Thankfully there are a lot more people making funky boys clothing, both here and in Australia. His wardrobe is a mix of smaller labels, basics from the bigger chains, some thrifted and vintage items and still quite a lot of upcycled clothes. Billy always likes to look funky and from the time he could walk and talk would go to his wardrobe and select just the right shoes. He still likes to accessorise with the perfect hat!

I’m dying over this boy’s mad style. He’s like a little Johnny Depp in training! Billy’s mum tells us his favourite things are drawing, playing Lego, dressing up, going to cafe’s—one of his favourites has an old school pinball machine you can play on. He also loves hanging out in his big sister’s room listening to her music.

Billy’s favourite day is Monday which is known as Boy Monday. After walking his 8-yr old sister Harriet to school the rule is: no errands and no housework. Billy gets to choose what they will do for the day until school pick up—sometimes it is visiting the library and a cafe, or going on a train, ferry and bus adventure or sometimes hanging out at home baking and playing Legos. I gotta say I LOVE the idea of Boy Monday! Gabrielle your boy is crazy adorable and sweet as can be. Thank you so much for sharing Billy with us!

Do YOU have an adorable kiddo you’d like to share with us? Send your photos to me: Alix [at] modernkiddo [dot] com! Happy Friday everyone!

Meet Story! Our Weekly Kiddo.

Gather round, ye Kiddo fans. This week I have the most adorable little girl for you as our Weekly Kiddo. Of course she is stylish and cute as can be, BUT this little one also has the best personality EVER! I’ve never met her in person, so of course you may be thinking how the heck would I know this? Well lemme just tell you….pictures speak louder than words. Once you lay your eyes on little Miss Story Love, a spunky little  2 year old from Mississippi, you will know EXACTLY what I’m talking about! Her awesome mama Amy sent me these photos and they had me grinning from ear to ear…something about her big happy smile reminded me of my Wolfie when he was her age (and Amy that’s a big compliment, because I’m crazy smitten with my little guy! haha). OK. Let’s take a look at the fabulous Story….

You see what I mean?? haha. I love this kiddo!! That Palm Springs top is killing me.

Amy told me she loves to dress Story in vintage and this next bunch are all clothes from Amy’s childhood that her mother saved for her. I have a feeling Dottie is going to flip for this first one!!

This little romper is crazy cute! I love her teensy tummy…and the shot with her hand in her pocket? So cute. Just makes you want to give her a big hug—and buy her a pony!!

YAY for Miss Story! You can just tell this child is full of happy energy. Her mama says she is a little ray of sunshine in their home and I believe it! As the mother of a Wolfgang, I’m always intrigued by kiddo’s with unusual or unique names. Of course I had to ask if there was a tale behind the name “Story.” Here’s what Amy said:

Story Love’s name came from hearing the name Story in the Lady in the Water movie. We heard it several times again and it just stuck. The name “Love” came from giving her a biblical attribute to be called. Plus her Papa wanted to call her Love and we wanted it to be a part of her name…not just a nickname!

Story loves to laugh and play but her tippy top faves are babies. She has many of Amy’s childhood baby dolls she plays with and has to have one everywhere she goes. Amy says:

Story is a baby-doll fanatic! She is always cuddling, feeding and even burping them! She has a 5-month old sister, Meila True, so I suppose she is learning these things from watching me caring for the baby!”  Story loves being outside and playgrounds are hard to pass up. But, once inside a kiddo sing-a-long is the only answer…with her baby dolls of-course!

Aw, Story….how we love ya! Amy, your kiddo seems as beautiful on the inside as on the outside. Thank you for sharing her with us!

Meet Igor! Our Weekly Kiddo.

Ladies and gentlemen….it’s FRIDAY, and you know what that means. I have to say, I feel like every week I tell you, “You won’t believe how awesome this week’s Kiddo is.” Yet once again, here I am. I have to tell you one of the most fantastic things about this blog is hearing from readers all over the globe. I recently received an email from Modern Kiddo fan Natalia who lives in Cracow, Poland. She sent me photos of her little boy IGOR…and in addition to having the coolest name around (well, second only to Wolfgang, of course… 😉 ) he is such a stylish little guy you won’t believe it.

Tomorrow, September 18, is Igor’s birthday. He turns TWO! I thought it would be appropriate to make him this week’s kiddo. HAPPY BIRTHDAY little Igor! Wszystkiego Najlepszego!

You have to admit, this is one fantastic kiddo, am I right?? It’s so much harder to find stylish clothing for little boys and I always appreciate seeing a well dressed little fella.

As I said earlier, Igor is turning two tomorrow. His mother Natalia tells us that he is full of energy and is a very joyful kiddo. He is smiling all the time but he can also be a bit stubborn too! You won’t be surprised to hear that Igor’s favorite part of his wardrobe are his CAPS! He absolutely love them and doesn’t want to take them off his head. Bravo Igor! He also loves to play with this little cars and enjoys watching shows like Wonder Pets, Elmo, Ernie and Bert and playing ball outside. One of his favourite activities is driving around in his Mercedes SLK—see above. I love it. He is a classy little lad! THANK YOU so much Natalia for sharing your handsome boy with us. Dziynki!
