Sacre Bleu!

UPDATE: ZE PROBLEM, SHE EES FIXED! Stay tuned for our ALT THRIFTING RECAP tomorrow! New to Kiddo? Clicky click that little heart over there OR the girl on roller skates to see a sampling of our favorite posts!

Well well well. Soooooo we are experiencing a few little difficulties here at Camp Kiddo. It’s partly my fault. But mostly Photobuckets. While I was dancing the night away at ALT, my credit card they had on file expired. And apparently they won’t “retry” my updated charge until January 27. Which seems ridiculous. But I can’t really communicate with the fine folks over there because our Internet is down. Mon dieu!! When eet rains, eet pours….so you may notice that many of the images on our site today are broken. Which is, of course, LOVELY because I know we have so many new visitors popping by from ALT. And I feel like you’ve caught me with my curlers in my hair! So apologies, and please bear with us while we sort everything out, my friends! Rest assured…..

Hee. Reporting live from Starbucks….

We’re back—and exhausted!

Forgive us for taking a day off, friends. We just flew back from ALT…and boy are our arms tired. (hyuck! hyuck!) It was wonderful and wacky! Exhilarating and exhausting! Thought provoking and memorable….all at the same time. Both of our panels went really well (HURRAY!) and we got to reconnect with so many new friends. One of the best parts about blogger conferences is meeting new friends, and  it was amazing to put faces to all the online names we know. Also, HUGE thanks to all the wonderful readers who came up to us so say hello. Your sweet words really were the highlight of the experience!

We’ll be back later this week with a little recap of our experience and then back to kiddo vintage/style/design as usual. OH! And we didn’t really show up in the same outfit accidentally. Dottie and I scored those awesome matching vintage furry hats at an estate sale and thought it would be hilarious to match! I think I can say that the hats were a hit! Whoo hoo!

The Kiddos Hit the Road :: ALT DESIGN SUMMIT 2012

Miss Dottie and I have hit the road! We’re both at the fabulous Altitude Design Summit in chilly Salt Lake City. We went last year and it was a mighty fine time. This year we are speaking again, which is always super fun.

Just what is ALT, you may ask? It’s a gathering of amazing design-fashion-food-craft-lifestyle bloggers. There are really excellent sessions and workshops and it’s a fab opportunity to learn, connect and get inspired. Dottie and I are  both speaking on Friday (at the same time—small bummer! I wanted to hear her panel!). Dottie is on “How to Make Yourself Press Worthy” which should be an amazing session. I’m on the “Up and Coming Blogs” session, and we’ll be spilling the beans about some of our favorite blogs that you might have on your reader (check back around 1:30PST to see the list of blogs!).

It’s also at the same time as the Sundance Film Festival, which makes for an exciting atmosphere. Every attendee even gets a free ski pass, but I have to confess we’ll be skipping the skiing and going on a special vintage store/thrift run with the awesome Liz Stan (Say Yes! To Hoboken). I know it’s wrong, but I’m looking forward to that more than almost anything.

We’ve been tweetin’ and instagramin’ our way through the conference as well, so feel free to follow along! @galexina and @missdottie. We are having a blast with our awesome roomie and very sassy friend so stay tuned for a full report!

Vintage Love :: Baby Carriages.

via: JoggerMom

“First comes love then comes marriage, then comes the baby in the baby carriage…”

When I was pregnant a very dear friend gave us this vintage stroller lovingly modeled by Raggedy Anne. It was the first bit of baby gear I had and I LOVED it.

And it later served as our bassinette. Although I must admit this beauty didn’t get out much–it was almost too beautiful to go outside.  However, its handling is not as smooth on corners as I’d like compared to today’s jaunty strollers, but man, what a sweet looking ride. It was like a crib on wheels.

And you have to love a good baby carriage.  Industrial designers sure did in the 1930s. According to Daddy Types, these gorgeous vintage goodies are going for more than $2800.

And this last one kills me with it’s beautiful lines.

Normal Bel Geddes and Raymond Loewy would have had a fist fight over this beauty created by artist John Knotts which made the rounds in the blogosphere a couple of years ago, but it is worth checking it out again right now. Oooh yeah baby!

Although this is more of a stroller or push toy than a baby carriage, I just adore this little vintage cutie–couldn’t you just see the little kiddo rolling around in this baby jalopy?

Oh boy, this wonderful glorious pink one is just what the doctor ordered!

These wicker ones are usually from the turn of the century, so to find one in as good shape as this is quite rare!  Looks like the little kiddo is really enjoying the ride!

Alix found this pretty in pink cutie.  It’s like a baby barcalounger on wheels. LOVE IT!

This one is my favorite because of the little flowers added to the top.

Here is a classic baby carriage with such pretty lines.  Soo gorgeous.

Red for a baby carriage? Sounds good to me when it is as stunning as this one.

I must admit, it’s nice that baby’s first set of wheels can be a beautiful as these. Hint hint baby designers of today…
