Merry Kitschmas! My Vintage Ornament Collection

I loooove vintage ornaments. I love the Shiny Brites. I love little wooden figurines. I love the pretty glass ornaments from Germany.  I love metallic birds with real feather tails. BUT I also love these playful little guys. Over the years I’ve amassed a fun collection of little kitschy felted friends that are just TOO cute! I  have to say, I don’t know much about them. I’m guessing they are from the late 60s, early 70s….but I’m not positive. What I do know is that most are from Japan. And ALL are adorable. They remind me very much of the Rankin/Bass animated holiday specials, with their big round eyes. I don’t put them on our main tree anymore (because there are too many of them and I like our other ornaments too!), but awhile back I got this little mini silver tree and think they fit on here perfectly!

A little small tree like this is a GREAT idea for kiddos, because they can “be in charge” of the decor. Pick ornaments made of things like felt, wood, sequins, yarn (I’ve seen some really cute ones at Target!)  and you don’t have to worry about your little one accidentally breaking anything as they decorate away!

Do you have any special or favorite ornaments?

Want, Need, Wear, Read // Jenny Mitchell

Hello friends! Shopping for the kid’s is so much fun, but I have to admit it’s tough to just keep it to four things. Here are four really sweet items I know my little girl Dorothy would just love to find under our tree!

want: I can totally see my Dotty girl zipping around the neighborhood in this awesome Radio Flyer Bike!

need: When the weather dips, she’ll be super cozy, cute and colorful in this Girl’s Powder Puffer in Yellow!

wear: We love Studio Ghibli movies around our house and this Totoro Hat is sure to bring big smiles!

read:  We love storytime and Now I Am Big &  I Can Do It Myself by Stephen Krensky would be a great addition to our growing library.

So there you have it friends! My Fab Four. What would you get your kiddo? xoxo, Jenny

Be sure to pop on over to Jenny’s fantastic vintage shop, Frecklewonder. It’s always filled with her gorgeous finds and at terrific prices. THANK YOU SO MUCH miss Jenny!!

My heart is breaking.

{for our friends over seas or those who haven’t yet heard of the tragedy….there was a devastating shooting at a Connecticut Elementary school with 18 children killed.}

My stomach hurts as I type this. But I hate the thought of someone coming here and seeing jolly information during this horrible tragedy….so I needed to put this up. My heart aches for the families. And during the holidays?? Who shoots a child??? The saddness is shaking me to my core. I’m also so very angry. I hate that guns are so readily available in this country. It’s a huge HUGE problem. The average person doesn’t need a Glock. This is 2012…nearly 2013. Bottom line, we need to find a solution to stop tragedies like this from happening.

I want to hug Wolfie so badly right now.

Love and hug your children, friends.

Want, Need, Wear, Read // Ilana Wiless

want: Bespoke Personalized Quilt from Cheeky Handmades

I had this quilt made for my first daughter to mark her side of the room since she will soon be sharing it with her new baby sister. As soon as I hung it up, I realized it was only a matter of time before the baby asked for one too.

need: Kinderwagon Hop

It’s a lightweight collapsible double stroller! Currently on back order, because what urban-dwelling mother of two wouldn’t want one of those??

wear: I {Pretzel} NY onesie from Piccolini

The cutest onesie for New York City’s littlest residents.

read: Chloe, Instead

This book is the perfect ‘big sister’ gift. It’s about learning to love your little sister even though it’s tough to share your space and your stuff.

Hop on over to Mommy Shorts and be prepared to laugh, cry and stare amazement at Ilana’s witty, fun style! With cute little girl Mazzy AND a new baby, this groovy mommy does it all. THANKS ILANA!

Want, Need, Wear, Read // Brandy Mercredi

Hello everyone! Here are my top Fab Four picks!

WANT: Part blocks, part marble maze – my kids don’t quite know it yet, but they want this toy. We are shooting for fun sibling play time when shopping for gifts, but I think this toy will bring lot’s of family play time (even better). Quadrilla Twist and Rail Set.

NEED: Socks! Always and forever we need socks, it’s not a very glamorous gift but, fun and funky pattern socks I’m pretty sure will be a hit with my kids. Happy Socks.

READ: All the books that are currently on my wish list for the kids, are books that are fun to read and look at for the parents. Oliver Jeffers books are a hit in our house, I’m sure this book will join our fav books in no time. This Moose Belongs To Me.

WEAR: My “Wear” list is reallllly long, but these are two of my favs. The tee is a must and the boots, a bit more of a dream! I Cut My Own Hair Tee . Clog Ankle Boots.
