Five Awesome Nightlights for Kiddos!

My friend Davina asked me if I had any recommendations for cute night lights for her little girl.  So, of course I had to do a search and share my findings not only her but with you!  Here are my top five!

Whales are gaining some major street cred–could the be the next owl?  This whale night light could take on any owl for cuteness and would be darling for a boys room.  From Etsy seller, LilBurrito.

But don’t worry about owls–they are awesome and button cute, so you can imagine the obscene adorableness of one as a nightlight.  Like this adorable one from Kinderglow which has a line of safe re-chargable nightlights that kiddos can take with them to bed. So adorable, I almost can’t stand it.

Our gal, Mari from Small For Big hipped me to this enchanting these wonderous JIP J.I.P. Mushroom Nightlight Set. Which I must admit is the one I ended up getting the Peach.

I love this homemade mason jar night light–so cute and sweet and rather unexpected for a child’s room. From Etsy seller, KyleeDude.

Now, I know OXO Candela series is super popular and with good reason because they are so charming.  But have you seen this rocket version called the Zoom night light? How cute is that? I have a very good feeling that this might need to be purchased for a certain little Rocket Baby

Those are my top five! Did I miss any?  Please share! Inquiring minds want to know!

Besty of Etsy :: Dancing in the Rain.

Did I mention that the Peach loves kitties.  Like LOVES kitties. LOVES.

I have a feeling a soft toy in the shape of the kitty would be a welcome prezzie from the birthday fairy.

So you can imagine my joy when I came across these cutie patooties from Etsy seller Dancing in the Rain.

I mean, really have you ever seen such adorableness?

Oh, but the Peach can’t have all the fun, right?  Perhaps Mama needs one for her check book.

Or iPhone case?  Yes?

Yup, I think the birthday fairy might be bring one or two from Miss Peach’s upcoming birthday!  What do you think?

Holidazed: Cool Gifts for Kids–Green Toys Inc.

Well, it’s that time of year again… The year where we are constantly hustling to find the right gift to garner the most hugs and kisses from little ones. So, here at Modern Kiddo, we are going to spend the next month coming up with cool toys for all the girls & boys.  We promise to offer you different, fun gifties for different, fun ages and at different, fun price that we think no little kiddo would mind finding under the Christmas tree or Hanukkah bush.

We’ll start it off a great product that I’ve personally fallen in love with for the Peach.  I was determined to find a tea set for the Peach but almost all of the ones I found were from China and I didn’t want my little girlie to be sucking on the equivalent of a lead pipe. Insert the wonderful tea set I found from SF-based company Green Toys Inc.  And of course this was just the tip of the iceberg.  All of their products are BPA-free and made from safe recycled milk jugs. And bonus: the stuff is totally fun too!

I love this tool set!  It makes me want to build something right now!

These jumpropes are the perfect stocking stuffer.

The Peach is going through a firetruck/garbage truck phase right now, so these trucks would be perfect for her.

Oh, and I think these boats would be a welcome addition to any kiddo’s bathtime.

And the price point for these green goodies is pretty decent–$25-30, so not a bank breaker and you get a high quality eco-friendly toy! Go Green Toys, Inc!

Vacation Flashback: Heading Outta Town.

I know when August hits many families are exhausted from a full summer and can’t wait for school to start. As a workin’ mama, however, I have to say I’m totally not ready! My schedule has been action packed but all with work. Wolfie’s been at a fun summer arts camp and then he and Greg visited grandma and grandpa in Myrtle Beach ….but I haven’t really had a summer vacation to speak of yet. That’s why I’m soooo looking forward to this weekend. We’re all heading down to San Diego for Tiki Oasis—a fun, retro weekender celebrating  tiki culture. I’m plotting outfits, thinking about squeezing in a day trip to Legoland, dreaming of lounging poolside and of course some nice quality time with my sweet boys. Also, August 22 is mah birthday and I’m soo looking forward to hangin’ with my girlfriends who will be down in San Diego with their families too. Expect a full report next week!

In honor of the elusive Family Vacation that I’ve been chasing all summer long, here’s a little virtual slide show of retro holiday fun!
