Vintage Kiddo Retro Round up

How was your weekend? Did you make the most of the lovely weather? We had the nicest, sunniest weather this weekend for our annual block party. But I’ll chat more about that tomorrow.  And I also purchased a nice new iPhone and fiddled away far too much time on Instagram this weekend. But enough chit chat because I have some darling goodies to share with your this week!

Oh, this dress, this dress, this dress.  I. Magnin Kate Greenaway dress from Ebay seller, Judith Thorne.

Russian nesting dolls are super popular and with good reason–kids have so much fun with them!  The Peach can whittle away a half hour with one of her sets.  And this beautiful vintage set from Etsy seller, Olga Vintage would be gorgeous in play or on a shelf.

FuzzyMama always has great finds, like these genius plaid bellbottoms of cuteness.

Our sister Dame, Moxie Deluxe went to see Marlo Thomas talk last week and she told us the best Marlo stories!  Which of course made us remember how much we all loved Free To Be You and Me! And of course Free to Be A Family available in book form from Etsy seller, Oopsie Daisy.

I’m always mad for plaid–and this long sleeved boys shirt is worth buying now and putting aside for winter later.  From Etsy Blue Bird Lucy.

My obsession with red shoes is a long long one, so I couldn’t possibly leave out these never worn beauties that will hopefully be worn again one day. From Etsy seller Twilight Secrets.

I’m completely obsessed with all things nautical. But then again, everyone should be obsessed with these great sailor pants and suspenders.  From Etsy seller, Flour Clothing.

I HAD to feature this wonderful Playskool Activity Center after seeing one in last week’s Vintage Kiddo Round up!  And this one is a peach. I love the kitty behind the curtain. Tee hee! From Etsy seller, Connie and Andrew’s Digs!

Look what you can do with a Spirograph!  Especially this vintage Spirograph set! I particularly loved this game as a child. From Ebay seller, PepsiGuy504.

We started with a terrific dress and we are ending with another terrific dress– this perfect smocked plaid beauty that is just to-die-for wonderful! What a great find from 3 Ring Circus!

Happy Monday!

Vintage Kiddo Retro Round Up!

Hurrah! It’s time for the weekly vintage kiddo retro round up of awesomeness. Heck yeah!

I stopped by The Littlest’s shop of wee vintage goodies and nearly plotzed. Oh so many goodies to choose! But I had to show you this little vintage pocket kitty shirt.  Gingham, peter pan collar, apron, puffy sleeves and kitties on the pockets.  It’s like they crammed as much goodness into one wee shirt as humanly possible.

Nowadays, toddlers are being given their own digital cameras for their second birthdays, but I still love the old vintage Fisher Price camera with pictures in them.  But the best is that great white “bulb”.  Genius. From Etsy seller, Toys of the Past.

I always such a weak spot for sailor suits.  And a red sailor suit with an umbrella on it? ADORABLE! From Ebay seller, BadWaitress43.

Frecklewonder, you find the most amazing stuff–like this great seersucker overalls that feature a hungry horse and clever use of a button and ribbon and yarn to make it so darn cute! Nice find, lady!

This book just says it like it is because there’s Lots To Do! And this book gives you some ideas about great things to do! Sweet! But first I want to find a hat similar to the one the kid is wearing on the cover of this book… From Etsy seller, IsMoyo’s Playground.

There is nothing sweeter than seeing a widdle baby toddle towards you in a little sunsuit/romper.  And this one with the embroidered ribbon on gingham is so cute, I might have to eat it. Or at least nom on the baby leg wear it. From Ebay seller, Downtown1.

Just shuffle off to Buffalo to buy a pair of vintage tap shoes from Etsy seller, The Get up Vintage.

Oh, that Pussycat Vintage finds thee best things!  Like this dandy western shirt that would get oodles of wear all year round.

Oh how my brothers would have fought over this Hot Wheel car! With hinged bubble bubble top, no less! From Etsy seller, Closet Photo.

Just some good ole boys meaning no harm came up with this wonderful bit of vintage kiddo kitcsh.  Yup. The Dukes of Hazzard read along record. From Etsy seller, Hippie Jo.

Happy Monday,

It’s the Vintage Kiddo Retro Round Up!

Hello my friends! I hope you had a lovely weekend and spent a good bunch of it celebrating Mother’s Day. Sadly, I spent yesterday in the emergency room due to little Miss Peach taking a tumble down the stairs. Fortunately, Peaches bounce and she’s fine. It was prolly one of the worst moments of motherhood but let me tell you, there’s nothing like spending Mother’s Day in the hospital surrounded by really sick kids to make you appreciate having a healthy and safe child.

But enough of that—let’s get to sharing some grand vintage goodies, yes? And, friends, I must tell you I did a bang-up job of finding goodies today!

Look at these little Siamese kitties on this perfect wee red dressie. You can’t even look at this without singing to yourself that song from Lady and the Tramp. From Etsy seller, Accomplice Vintage.

And I can’t leave the dog lovers out so I found this wonderful widdle vintage boy’s shirt and a snappy little Scotty dog—in plaid natch! From Etsy seller, Oh Dear Things.

I’m a big believer in music for kids. Listening as well as playing. And this sweet vintage set would be a terrific addition to any play room.  A kazoo trombone? Genius. From Ebay seller, Ice Cream Girlie.

I really have a soft spot for knits. Especially this darling vintage two piecer with wee duckies. Did I mention the duckies? From Ebay seller, tailofwhoa.

Speaking of knits, I also love a good knit sweater. And this might be the cutest little knit sweater I’ve seen in years. The little embroidered flowers are so sweet! From Ebay seller, the Robot Parade.

I adore those old vintage puzzles. But I’ve never seen one of a repairman. Hee. Have you?? From Etsy seller, Bella Blonde.

I think these vintage tops could be seen as art as well as toys. And I like the kitty on this one too!  From Etsy seller, Nik Nak Nook.

Vintage prep is totally a hot look right now, so these sweet little plaid golf shorts would be a brilliant look for any little kiddo this summer. From sassy new Modern Kiddo sponsor, B. Inspired!

Seeing this sweet set of die cast toy cars brought back memories of my brothers playing with them and keeping their matchbox cars in a faux toy tire that had slots for each car! From Etsy seller, OopsieDaisy.

With summer RIGHT around the corner some little cutie is going to benefit from this comfy cool little gingham friend!  And did you notice the little birds with the umbrellas?  From Miss Frecklewonder’s cutie patootie shop—Kid Wonder.

OK, I had to share one more. Because THIS is just too amazing. Vintage Mary Poppins NEEDLEPOINT? How grand would this look in your kiddo’s nursery. And talk about the perfect easy breezy craft to do this summer. Perfect for traveling. Pretty please someone please buy this before I do! From one of our fave sponsor’s, Sweet Shop Vintage.

Happy Monday!

Vintage Kiddo Retro Round Up

Hi hi Friends,

Oh May, how I’ve missed you.  You bring beautiful weather and blueberries and short sleeve shirts. Even a bout of food poisoning (my second in a month) could quell my e-thrifting desire and  a chance to find some goodies for you all on the double e’s—Etsy and Ebay.  So I hope you like ’em!

Can’t get your kid to wear a hat and sunglasses at the same time—well color that problem SOLVED with this sweet vintage sun glasses-hat. What child wouldn’t be happy as a clam wearing it? Tee hee! From Ebay seller, BadWaitress503.

In honor of Alix’s recent trip to Hawaii and the opening of ticket sales for Tiki-Oasis (remember it from Alix’s trips there with Wolfie?) I found these great vintage Hawaiian aloha shirts. From Ebay seller, CathyinHawaii.

For the love of Pete, and the little girls, I had to share with you guys this vintage frowny apple striped dress. But really who wouldn’t frown if you had a worm on your head, amirite?  BTW, would you check out that rick rack edging?? Sigh. J’adore. From Etsy seller,  Divine Debris Vintage.

Check out this old school Chutes and Ladder game. No candy cane slide here–I guess Milton Bradley upped the ante later. And would you please check out the adorable outfits on the kiddos?  So sweet! From Etsy seller, Old and Wise.

Oh good gravy, I remember seeing the movie Bedknobs and Boomsticks in the drive in theater in Cape Cod when they screened old movies on Wednesday nights.  So, I’m sure  the book would be just as good!  From Etsy seller, Oopsie Daisy.

I’ve posted these divine vintage kiddo shoes before and I have to post them again because they are adorable!  And in beautiful NEW shape too! How could I not share these yellow and black patent leather dreams again?? From Ebay seller, Eegnats.

Dance your cares away with these great vintage McDonald’s Fragglerock toys!  I don’t recall the actuall Fragglerock gang having such sweet rides as a cucumber or eggplant with mushroom wheels.  But it’s kinda kickass.  I gotta tell you when we were lucky enough to get to McDonalds Happy Meal as a kid I was so excited for the toys. Do they still have these high quality toys in them today?  From Ebay seller,  ckendall1979.

I think this might be one of my favorite vintage Fisher Price toys out there—the Mama duck and the ducklings. It is so darling and would look just as beautiful on a shelf as art as well as a favorite toy. From Ebay seller, roses4me2sell.

We are big fans of embroidery her at ModernKiddo and this little construction scene shirt from 3Ring Circus is just too adorable for words!  And bonus points for the gingham “undershirt”. I die.

Here is the female equivilant of that grand shirt–this adorable vintage “ethnic” dress with gingham strips and adorable flowers, eh?  From Ms.Tips!

Who doesn’t need a little cuddle? Well, Sweet Shop Vintage has a grand selection of the cutest sewing kits for creative kiddos out there.  I think my favorite is the whale in the party hat.

Well, there you go! Some fun treats for May. Happy e-thrifting friends!

Howdy Doo! It’s Vintage Kiddo Monday!

Wellllll hellllo! I’m baaaaack! Oh my gersh, Hawaii was positively AMAZING. If you follow me on twitter (@galexina) or instagram, then you already saw a sneaky peakie of my sun filled holiday. It was much needed and I can’t wait to share some photos and stories with everyone….but here’s a little secret. I’m technically still in Hawaii!! We leave tomorrow morning. Miss Dottie and I did a little “Tag, your it!” on the vacation front and I’m pleased to report that she is off on a much deserved vacation herself. She has some great guest bloggers lined up to cover for her and I have loads of things planned too, but before we get into Hawaii stories and guesties, let’s not forget that today is our fabulous Vintage Kiddo Monday! Yep, this is the feature that started it all, and I just had to share with you guys some of our latest and greatest finds.

OK, it should come as no surprise that I’m loooooving this Junior Tiki Party dress from Kid Wonder! Jenny, how can you sell it?? I think your Dotty needs this one!!

Of course we can’t forget the little dudes and these groovy 70s plaid pants are funky as all get out. They look supah hip with a fun modern day tee (you can see Wolfie sportin’ some here!)

One of my new faves, The Sweet Shop, has sooo many great goodies in her shop. You’ll die! I have a whole feature coming up on Jeanette, as she is a fabulous new MK sponsor (YAY!) but for now check out this amazing little turtle neck top. It’s so Ernie and Bert!

And probably my favorite item, this BANANAS ride along toy that’s a 70s VAN! Yes. A 70s van ride-along toy. WOW.

One of our other favorites is Kyssa Vintage. Check out this crazy cute cordoroy jacket for your little indie boy!

And in honor of Miss Dottie’s Little House obsession, how about this darling prairie dress? Sassy alone or over rolled up jeans and sneaks.

This sweet little school girl dress from flour clothing is so great….but i’m a little biased since that little cutie modeling it is so lovely!

Ahoy matey! All aboard the S.S. Cutie! This adorable 60s sailor tank top, perfect for the upcoming summer, from our girl Heather at 3 Ring Circus Vintage.

And for the little dapper lads, how about this nautical short sleeved knit top?

Super groovy seller, Nostaligia Mama, has really scored with this fantastic lime green plaid dressie. Seriously? I want one in my size.

And if that weren’t enough she’s also got these rockin’ My Little Pony roller skates!

Speaking of roller skates. It’s never too young for a little roller derby action! The Sailor Made Shop has this ultra rad Roller Derby tank top. Aw yea, here comes trouble!

The Vintage Tot Spot pretty much stopped me dead in my tracks with this AMAZING hello sailor outfit. Have you ever?? It’s soooo Good Ship Lollipop!

I also love this soft and gently worn mickey mouse tee she’s got in her shop as well. If it were bigger I would totally get it for Wolfie.

And as if that weren’t enough…..Vintage Tot Spot goes for the win with this amazing turtle jumpsuit.

That’s it for now folks. Hey, if you’re a vintage seller and you have an item that you think would be fabulous to feature, shoot it our way! AlixandDottie [at] modernkiddo [dot] com. We’re always on the hunt for hot tips! MAHALO! (heh. I’m sooooo Hawaiian now, huh!)
