Meet Wolfie! Our Weekly Kiddo.

When Dottie and I started this site, I knew it would be extreeeemely tempting to talk about my own child all the time. I mean, how could I resist?? This site is a celebration of cute and stylish kid stuff and I’ve got a sweet lil Ambassador of Cute living right under my own roof. But I know you’re not coming here to listen to me yack about my child all the time and I’ve tried to curb my enthusiasm…..until now. Oh ho ho, yer in for it peeps! It’s Wolfie’s birthday week and my little munchkin is a Grand Old Six now. Amazing. I promise this is a one time dealie, so please forgive me while I indulge in some totally shameless mommy bragging and present this week’s Weekly Kiddo: Wolfgang the Great.

(Be forewarned….this is like a virtual version of those old timey wallets that unfurl with a thousand pictures!)

I had to show off some of his Old Skool Style. This is my little lad around age four.

+ Black and white checkered Vans

+ Vintage Close Encounters tee shirt

+ Vintage Han Solo Star Wars Underoos
+ Vintage late 60s Mustard Button shirt

Tee hee. These are some of our fave jammies. One morning I heard this funny clomping sound and discovered ol Puss-n-Boots was cavorting around the living room.
+ Small Paul “Bow Tie” PJs
+ Mommy’s boots from Top Shop

+ Shawn White for Target tee shirt
+ H&M jeans

+ Vintage Close Encountered tee shirt remixed for the Carnival. It was a bazillion degrees this day…resulting in this:
+ Spiderman terrycloth headband

+ Small Paul Stripey Hoodie
+ Green and Grey Striped shirt
+ Old Navy Jeans
+ Stella McCartney High Tops, Gap Kids

+ Paul Frank for Target tee
+ Small Paul Frank Hoodie
+ Old Navy  jeans

+ Navy blue blazer, Target
+ Pink button down, Target
+ Gingham tie, Target (it was a set…)
+ H&M jean
+ Blue Vans Skater Sneaks

Wow. Did you make it through that colossal list??? I warned you. The little Wolf cub is such a happy kiddo. He loves animals, watching his daddy’s band (“The Time Outs,” our Bay Area answer to The Wiggles….) and is obsessed with the Wii and playing games on my iphone. He is the only child I know who thinks chocolate is “yucky” and pretty much dislikes most sweets. It’s kind of bizarro. He is a salty boy, however, and loves him some pretzels, tortilla chips, cashews, onion bagels with cream cheese and pizza. He also is crazy about baseball (Go Giants!), Legos, reading stories, playing board games and collecting Bakugan and Pokemon. More than anything he loves to laugh and when he gets going he has a crazy giggle and his eyes get all twinkly and you just wanna melt. He is the ultimate charmer. I’m dreading the day he figures this all out in his teens because I know he’s gonna wheedle a vintage Corvette outta me. More than anything, I love that my boy is a kind and loving gentle spirit. HAPPY BIRTHDAY my little love bug. I love you to deep space nine and even past the black hole. (“Because mommy, do you know the black hole is the way FARTHEST place you can go!”)

Ella is such a cutie. I love how she looks like a little sweetie in one photo and then a sassy lil spunkette in the next! (Hello purple wig!) This adorable girl loves to sing, watch movies with her dad, play dress up, color and make things with tape and/or glue. Her favorite bands include Dan Zanes, Wilco, and Dave Matthews, but her mama says her favorite song is “Don’t Bring Me Down” by E.L.O (classic! hey, didn’t they do the Xanadu theme song too?? This little girl knows what’s what….). Miss Ella loves her mama’s famous tacos, chinese food, dad’s homemade pizza, bagels and broccoli (really). My favorite snippet about this little lass is that her favorite movie is The Parent Trap—but the original version from 1961 with Hayley Mills. Between Parent Trap and Princess Leia, this is a little girl after my own heart! GO ELLA!

Do you have a stylish little boy or girl you’d like to feature? Sent them our way! You’ll find the submission guidelines here.

Meet Stevie, our Weekly Kiddo!

Be on the look out for pieces from Joe Fresh Style, a very cool clothing company I had never heard of until Marnie emailed me these photos. It was started by Joseph Mimran who is responsible for Club Monaco, Caban and others.  Alas, right now it’s only available in Canada. (Boooo!) We think little Stevie is just tops! This spunky lil gal is 2 years old and hails from glorious Ottawa, Canada. Her mama, the very sweet Marnie, tells us that Stevie loves robots and especially likes to groove to the Backyardigans (we love ’em around here too!). Her favorite letter is W, which Wolfie was quite pleased to hear, but her favourite past time is hanging with her 2 cuddly cats – Mojo and Jojo—and her awesome doggie Waylon! This little animal lover is the cutest ever…

Meet Truman! Our Weekly Kiddo.

This week’s Kiddo is a special little lad. Truman lives in Minneapolis and is the son of my sweet pal Alisha (aka Lishy Loo Vintage!). Lishy has a wonderful eye and her Etsy shop is always brimming with amazing vintage children’s goodies. I love how Lishy dresses Tru in a fun mix of retro treasures and modern day things. So without any further adieu, Ladies and Gentlemen, may we present the Truman Show!

Little Truman is such a doll. He is a huge fan of Yo Gabba Gabba, Mary Poppins and dancing to his mommy and daddy’s record collection—vintage Sesame Street and Abba are a family favorite! Tru is an avid reader, just like his mama, and counts Margaret Wise Brown as among his top authors, especially Little Fur Family. Truman also loves kitties, balloons, playing games and laughing at all the silly things his fun lovin’ parents do. We think he is a huge sweetie…I guess I should have called this post Tru Love.

BONUS SHOT! Young Master Harry the younger, wearing a vintage jumpsuit (affectionately called “The Roper”) sourced at Modern Kiddo in our weekly Retro Roundup! Whoo hoo!

This is one stylish family, people! Have a great weekend…

Weekly Kiddo: Meet Stella!

When we first met the fabulous Marla, we were smitten. Marla is not only sweet as can be, she has fabulous taste and runs a terrific blog called Keeping Up with Stella. After getting completely sucked in by all the fun stuff she had posted, we asked, “Wait a second….just who is this Stella?” Oh ho ho!  You’ll be so glad we asked. This stylish little gal lives in Chicago with her mum and dad. Stella is full of life and is known for being a fun loving little chatterbox—entertaining her parents and everyone around her! Her favorites foods are pizza and broccoli with parmesan (YUM!). Stella is already prepping for the tents at Bryant Park and a season in Paris, so it should come as no surprise that she loves going to French class, playing dress up, shopping with mommy and picking out her own outfits! Her mommy Marla says “Stella may only be two, but she definitely has her own sense of style. She knows what she likes and what she doesn’t. We have so much fun together, she really is a pure joy!” And when you see that megawatt smile of hers, you know it has to be true. Work it, Miss Stella!
