Meet Sasha! Our Weekly Kiddo!

Oh friends, gather round. This special Kiddo update brought to you from glorious PRAGUE! Yesterday was insanity—arriving on 2 hours of sleep I was immediately thrown into the work scene.  I was jet lagged beyond belief, holed up in our hotel for meetings and castings, but still blown away by this lovely city. Today is a new day, I feel refreshed and ready to go! I am sitting in my hotel, enjoying some berries and yogurt with a nice pot of coffee and have something awesome to share with you. Just when I think we’ve seen the cutest kids possible, I get another round of emails from you guys with your amazing kiddos.

Today’s little girl is a super cutie. Her mama Inessa is a wildly talented illustrator and designer and has a fabulous lil blog called Diaper Style Memoirs. Just wait till you see her little two year old daughter, Sasha. Miss Sasha is of Russian descent, which seems appropriate, what with me being here in the Czech Republic. (And Sasha is the diminutive form of Alexandra….so I’m double loving it!) OK….on with the show my friends.

How adorable is this child??? I am loving how her momma dresses her. The polka dot skirt?? AMAZING. I chatted with Inessa and asked her to tell me alittle bit about Miss Sasha!

“Sasha is a typical 2 year old girl, playful with lots of energy which she needs in order to keep up with her older brother who is 8. Although she looks up to him, she doesn’t allow him to push her aroun! She loves to play dress up and adores shoes. All kinds of shoes. It is usually the first thing she notices about what people are wearing. She loves accessories but hates wearing hats and large bows in her hair. She raids her grandma’s jewelry drawer. Her favorite foods right now are: any kind of cheese, sour cream (which if allowed – she eats by spoonfuls), ice cream and honey. She doesn’t really play with lots of toys. She prefers to run around with her brother and throw the ball around just like him. But she does love her stuffed animals and dolls. She rotates the stuffed friend she sleeps with from day to day. She is usually easy going unless she is not getting what she wants and then — she can throw a mean tantrum.

Sasha loves to read books (turns the pages and blabbers to herself about what she thinks is happening) and adores the shows Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Handy Manny. Given the opportunity she would watch them all day long! She talks a lot but its difficult to know what she is saying because her vocabulary consists of both English words and Russian. She adores older children who she calls “babies” and absolutely is smitten with her brother’s 11 year old friend who she calls JoJo. She cannot contain her excitement when she sees him — she dances and jumps and sings and does absolutely any trick she can to get his attention. She will never leave his presence before she can give him a kiss even if that means following in his steps for hours with puckered lips saying “JoJo Muah, Muah.”  “

Thank you so much Inessa for sharing this little gorgeous girlie with us! Don’t forget to swing by the Diaper Style Memoirs to see more of Sasha’s sweet little life—as well as Inessa’s great design style!

Meet Felix! Our Weekly Kiddo.

We get so many photos of fabulous little girls, but we don’t see as many little fellers. So imagine my delight when Australian reader Suzette sent us these fantastic photos of her stylish little man FELIX! For starters, how cool is that name, right? I am particularly fond of names with an “X” in them. Felix is five and a half and looks like the sweetest little lad. Let’s take a look at his unique style!

  • Mister Kids tee – a cool Sydney label. Says Suzi, “The folks who run it moved in right next door to us! They are as cool as their clothes.”
  • Cute smile by Felix

Wowzer! Check out that sweet furry vest!! I love it…the viking tee is an inspired touch.

How adorable is this sassy lad?? I love his blonde loopy curls. We took a moment to chat with his lovely mum and she filled us in on all things Felix!

“There’s quite a few Aussie labels in there. Never having been a huge label person, it’s a bit shocking to see him kitted out so often in labels! I get them on sale though, always for a bargain!

Felix comes across almost as a small teenager but underneath this 5.5 year old Star Wars-obsessed maverick is a soft, marshmallowy, kind little guy who charms the older kids at school with his compact self-assuredness.

He’s a gourmet and will try any food once. Felix loves olives and even a hint of chilli! Like his grandmother and great grandfather, he’s a history buff and heavily into anything Ancient Egyptian and weapons throughout the ages.

Felix is always a delight and in his first six months of school, has taken much joy in learning to read —books are definitely his forte! He plays soccer and loves going to the skate park with his scooter. His dream is to one day own a skateboard!”

Oh Felix, you and your skateboard are destined to break many a young girl’s heart! Thank you Suzette for sharing this handsome and stylish boy with us. Be sure to stop by the awesome kiddo blog babyology where Suzette is an editor. They post loads of fun, groovy stuff.

She also loves to eat and is helping out in the kitchen cooking. We chatted with her mama who told us this:

“Poppy is definitely a girly-girl! She loves wearing dresses and skirts and would choose style over comfort any day. Her favourite colour is pink (can you tell?!!) and she has an opinion on anything and everything that she wears. Her all-time favourite piece of clothing is her ballet tutu. She’d wear it every.single.day. if she were allowed!”

I’m loving that tutu and I looooove her little sneaks! (er, or should we be calling them “trainers”??) Thank you so much Kellie for sharing your beautiful little lady with us. HAPPY FRIDAY everyone!

Meet Ella! Our Weekly Kiddo.

This week we have a little fashion superstar named Ella. Miss Ella is four years old and she lives in Omaha, Nebraska. She also happens to LOVE clothes— or as she likes to calls them, her “fashions”.  Folks you’re going to love this little girlie as ALL of the outfits in these photos are outfits that she put together herself!

We chatted with her sweet mama Denise who told us:

Ella reeeally loves her “fashions”. I just try to let her be creative with what she wears most of the time. She truly doesn’t get this from me—I think it’s just who she is! She’s like a mini Rachel Zoe! I took her shopping a couple months ago when I was looking for a pair of formal heels. Ella was my helper, but she didn’t like anything I picked out because they didn’t have “the finishing touch.” I think I’m in trouble!

Um, how cute are Miss Ella and her “fashions”?? I LOVE that! This little girl has moxie for days!

I’m starting with one of my top favorites. How excellent are these colors on her?? A young Carrie Bradshaw in the making!

Of course she also loves storytime and it should come as no surprise that her favorite books are from the Fancy Nancy series! When it’s time to eat, Ella goes crazy for macaroni and cheese, grapes and anything with chocolate. Yum! Next time you’re in San Francisco Denise, we want to go shopping with Ella! Thanks so much for sharing her with us!

Meet COOPER! Our Weekly Kiddo.

I swear you guys, our readers have THE CUTEST KIDS around! Today we have another little rock star boy—Cooper! This little man is 22 months old and is the son of Modern Kiddo pal, Tracy. (Make sure you check out her awesome blog, Shutterbean, and the fun cooking features she does for us: Quick Cookin’ with Shutterbean!) Tracy told us that she originally got alot of hand-me-downs from Coop’s cousin Henry. Henry’s style is super preppy (Ralph Lauren, saddle shoes….the works!) and that has kind of trickled into Cooper’s look. What i love is how Tracy mix and matches modern graphics with the preppy elements. It’s a super cute look! OK. On with the show….

Sweater: Gymboree
Pants: GAP
Shoes: Stride Rite

Tracy told us, “I basically dress him in what I would wear if I was a little boy. He’s pretty sporty and a tad bit preppy! We love stripes, argyles & plaids around here too.”

I am in love with this Doggie Diner shirt!!

Lookin’ shahhhp in this plaid shirt! I love it!

Coop wears a lot of Old Navy PJ tops as regular shirts, which are really fun and graphic. You can see a cute PJ top here paired with some classic Oshkosh overalls. (overalls courtesy of Frecklewonder!)

Hip Vans……just like his mama!

How cute is this boy?? I chatted with Tracy and asked her tell me a little more about him. “Coop is a super sweetie. He loves Curious George and singing the alphabet. He also is super adventurous and loves running around and exploring. He has no fear! He’s kind of a little toughie. He is super into trucks and cars and is obsessed with with baseball—he already loves the Red Sox like his daddy!”

Of course since Tracy is a masterful cook, I had to ask what kind of foods he eats. She told me he loves most things but especially loves CARBS. HA! I knew I loved this boy for reason!!  Let’s get yer mama to make us some tasty pasta Coop!!

As much as he loves to race around with a little gleam in his eye, this child is also extremely sweet. He’s a giggler and all in all is a very happy boy. Thank you soo much for sharing him with us. HURRAY for Cooper!
