Feeling Squirrelly…

I must admit that I love the owl trend that has blossomed over the past year, but I’m calling it now–squirrels are the owls of 2010.

And how could you not love squirrels when you see them used in such clever places such as these widdle shoes from Etsy seller, Burkeheart Baby.  They are stinky* cute!

Perhaps you want just a touch of squirrel–and if so, check out this little number from Kumquat Organic. With tuxedo ruffle accent. That is pure stinktown**!

Aren’t squirrels just made for onesie, like this one from Reform School which features a sassy drumming squirrel? Hipster alert!

Shall we put our beloved Sophie aside for this cute bit of wooden squirrelly goodness for our wee ones to gnaw on from Little Sapling Toys? I say yes, yes, YES!

Or let’s just go big or go home, shall we? With this Steiff Squirrel. So. Darn. Cute.

I must admit that I have a total thing for Steiff. I know. They are not even that squishy or soft, but something about them gets me all nostalgic and are so darn cozy to me. Seeing one makes me think of a 1930s English nursery with not too many toys, but very loved toys and this little Squirrel would be quite at home there.  I don’t know if it would be $250 at home with me, but still very tempting indeed!

Now, I’m off to eBay to see if I can find some vintage Steiff animals for the Peach!

PS:

* “Stinky” is Modern Kiddo speak for “adorable”

** “Stinktown” is Modern Kiddo speak for “insanely adorable”!!

Fit to be Tied

OK, how amazingly adorable are these little baby onesies and Big Kid tees from Etsy seller Krafty Kym?? I’m definitely going to be making a purchase. Kym Macfarlane is a Minneapolis-based art director (aha! I knew she was a designy type in addition to being a crafty minx, just look at how fabulously she styled these photos!) and she’s also a mother of three. How she finds the time to work, mommy AND make cute stuff like this, I’ll never know—but I’m sure glad she does!

Happy New Year Hair Brushes!

One thing that has been on my to do list for awhile is purchase a nice baby brush set.  Before you face the delight of the first haircut, you have months of fun brushing that satiny down baby hair.

I must say I’ve been crushing on the Hop Skip brush set (cleverly named Hare)  for awhile.  Who doesn’t love a bunny with ears that are actually a comb and brush?

Or maybe I should splurge on this hand painted monogrammed one from Junny & Milo.  One of a kind, just like my sweetie plum! And don’t worry–they have some really fun ones for boys as well.

But I can’t help loving old fashion silver hairbrushes that are begging to turn into heirlooms. I think this Elsa Peretti heart shaped baby brush from Tiffany’s would have any baby and Mommy swooning.

Raindrops are fallin' on my head…and toes!

Out here in California our winters would make you northern and mid-western folks laugh. We don’t get snow and “freezing” to us is when things dip down into the 40s. While we don’t have the need for parkas and mittens, we do get lots of rain. And that means one thing: rain boots. There are so many cute ones out there now, it’s amazing. I have to say I love the classic Froggy or Lady Bug boots, but there are so many more options in a variety of price ranges. And really, is there anything cuter than a lil kid splashing through rain puddles with a big grin on his or her face??

I love the mix of pink and brown—keeps it girlie but with a little twist. Find them HERE.

In the world of children’s fashion, boys tend to get the short end of the stick…but these insanely cute cowboy rain boots from Western Chief nearly make up for it. Your little buckeroo will look amazing. Yee haw! Find them HERE.

Once Dottie’s lil peach is old enough I think I will be gifting these sweet babies to her. Find them HERE.

Oh Totinette, how you make me yearn for a little girl!! How crazy cute are these Mary Jane boots?? Find them HERE.

I love Paul Frank and the new (and WAY cheaper!) Paul Frank for Target line has some choice goodies—these babies are among my top picks! Perfect for a boy OR a girl. Find them HERE.

I suspect these are meant to be for little boys but I have the feeling these would look even more adorable on a wee little tom boy. Find them HERE.

Looooove these sassy Penguin galoshes! Find them HERE.

These little guys are cute and I like how the rubber is more of a matte than the usual shiny boot. Find them HERE.

Awww, these little fairy boots are totally over the top cute. Apparently Suri Cruise agrees! Find them HERE.

Sew Darling: Oliver and S Patterns

I’ve been following the charming Miss Tsia and her very clever mother, Liesl on their blog Disdressed for what seems like ages.

Liesl launched the sweetest line of sewing patterns for children called Oliver + S that have become incredibly popular over the past couple of years. And with good reason when you can create such darling dresses as this one by Jennifer, of Bundle, a delicious Etsy store full of baby goodies like bibs and burp-clothes.

This adorable creation is the playdate dress pattern and features such clever little details like an inverted pleat at the sleeve hem and a bib-style yoke.

Really Jennifer, is too cute.  In fact it transcends cute to KOOT, which is like taking it to eleven in cuteness.

I’d like to make one in my size, please!  This just screams for some sweet mother/daughter combo–don’t you agree?
